This morning, Michelle and I awoke to some surprising and humbling news. At 6 a.m., we received word that I'd been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009.

To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize -- men and women who've inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace.

But I also know that throughout history the Nobel Peace Prize has not just been used to honor specific achievement; it's also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes.

That is why I've said that I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations and all peoples to confront the common challenges of the 21st century. These challenges won't all be met during my presidency, or even my lifetime. But I know these challenges can be met so long as it's recognized that they will not be met by one person or one nation alone.

This award -- and the call to action that comes with it -- does not belong simply to me or my administration; it belongs to all people around the world who have fought for justice and for peace. And most of all, it belongs to you, the men and women of America, who have dared to hope and have worked so hard to make our world a little better.

So today we humbly recommit to the important work that we've begun together. I'm grateful that you've stood with me thus far, and I'm honored to continue our vital work in the years to come.

John the farmer was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young layers (hens), called pullets and eight or ten roosters, whose job was to fertilize the eggs. The farmer kept records and any rooster that didn't perform went into the soup pot and was replaced.

That took an awful lot of his time so he bought a set of tiny bells and attached them to his roosters. Each bell had a different tone so John could tell from a distance, which rooster was performing. Now he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report simply by listening to the bells.

The farmer's favorite rooster was old Butch, a very fine specimen he was, too. But on this particular morning John noticed old Butch's bell hadn't rung at all! John went to investigate. The other roosters were chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing. The pullets, hearing the roosters coming, would run for cover.

BUT, to Farmer John's amazement, Butch had his bell in his beak, so it couldn't ring. He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one. John was so proud of Butch, he entered him in the county fair.

Butch became an overnight sensation among the judges.

The result: the judges not only awarded Butch the "No BellPiece Prize" but they also awarded him the "Pulletsurprise" as well.

Clearly Butch was a Politician in the making. Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most highly coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the populace and screwing them when they weren't paying attention?

Any mailhandlers out there? Are most of you working OT because management screwed up with this NDC thing? Come on guys, fill us in on this crap as it happens.

Gort- from the Cin BMC/NDC - The short answer is "YES". The long answer is "with disparaty" in the MH Craft. At the Cin NDC we all are able to have the skills required to perform the duties of all areas in our plant. We have, for many years, functioned under a section first then needs of the tour in relation to OT. As wholesale OT was cut more than a year ago only certain WC's, there are 11 in total, are calling OT - especially off day. So, only the MH's in those specific sections are getting OT. ALL other crafts at the Cin NDC operate under a Tour OT List , ONLY. That gives them a more equal opportunity to share in that OT. ALL except for the selfish MH craft who say as long as I'm gettin' mine, then F*** you! So, even though you may have 34 years as a dues paying member, you are not receiving fair and equal representation at the Cin NDC!

Locals can be changed! The National gives you the choice of two options:
1)Section and Tour > First by section, any additional needs will the be addressed by Tour or 2) Tour

I need some advice on how to request a change of schedule. I am being falsely accused, harassed and disciplined for something I didn't do. I need to get off my tour until my EEO and Union settle this. Any suggestions?

Your union is attempting to settle it but can't tell you how to get a revise? Wow. It's unlikely management will agree, but you must submit a 3189 signed by a union rep. It will help your case if other employees are currently on revised schedules to use as another comparable if they deny your request.
