Hey Detroit NDC have you ever thought of trying to get JOHN BARYNAS to run for local President. Wake up and smell the coffee, he is probably the best qualified individual in the NDC and he is not "in bed" with management. You totally screwed up when you elected Mendez and now you just may have a way out. Mike Stanton..or Mike mendez? Great choices you might as well elect Akmed!

There has to be someone there who is up to the position of Branch President. Someone who can learn the contract if they don't already know it. Someone who isn't afraid to deal with supervisors.

There should be one more door installed in the "Standby Room" at the Detroit NDC...and it should lead to the parking lot, because all of you in there are "out-the door". In fact the last one out of the building "please turn out the lights! The NDC will go the way of the dinosaur and be closed down. A few letter trays can be worked at the Metroplex.

Old Fart, I am glad you are retired and so enjoy your retirement, I am sure you have earned it. Please don't add fuel to the fire about our situation. The Postal Service is conducting an AMP study right now for the GWY/GMF which I am sure will effect our future. Well not mine as I will be excessed no matter what. I hate sitting in the standby room but the Postal Service has not determined that the BMC/NDC will be shut down and any such talk is premature. As to your reference to Mr. Barynas, perhaps we should wait to see who WANTS to be the next BP. There are several people who who bring a lot to the table but let's wait to see who decides to run and then vote based on those peoples qualifications. Who ever gets the job will be facing a monumental task of trying to fix the deficiencies of the past and fighting for our futures while trying to keep up with the day to day grievances. No matter who becomes the next BP we must all stand behind that person, united in our efforts to preserve our jobs and rights.

Just curious. Do any of you guys still have people sitting in the "standby" room? If not, why was ti stopped?

no mailhandlers here have ever been assigned to standby room they have used it for clerks occasionally on tour 2 but only on mondays-wednesdays. we went to "live unload" in september since then they have had ot everynightto cover the tour one hours.

I can't wait to get out of Detroit, I am not thrilled about being excessed but our union officials here are terrible

In case you didn't hear. I seen a paper posted on Mail Handlers Letterdhead stating that

18 Mail Handlers from Detroit to Grand Rapids
1 to Traverse City
6 to Saginaw
17 to Pittsburgh
Maybe 20 to Lansing

Maybe 16 More later to Grand Rapids.

That's up to 62 to 78 Mail Handlers leaving the Metro Detroit area. That $3.1 million or $3.9 Million in lost taxable wages. Allen Park and Detroit are hurting further in the New Year.

This is from your Vice President. I stated some of this 3 weeks ago. Of course did anyone tell you about the USPS document on the web that stated 61 Mail Handlers from Downtown Detroit to the Metroplex. Notice was sent out to the Local Presidents and companys affected dated 7/28/09. I passed the document unto a couple of Mail Handlers down there but maybe you didn't see any posting on your Union board.

Also Management didn't tell you either. SEE NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOU. I passed on the information and watch someone will reference me as some vulgar name or cat call me out over passing on information. Haven't you heard KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. But the members are kept in the dark on both sides of the table. The Past Administration wasn't any better than the present in that regards.

Of course I would fail if I didn't mention that we need to watch those guys in Washington DC. How are they any better? Do you see anyting about all this excessing on their website? Try calling them and they treat you like your a bother and they have more important things to do. You better find someone down there who is willing to step up and sacrifice their life endeavouring to help you. You have to wonder if you treat this poster the way you do that anyone would want to take the time?
