Funny thing going on here in lansing, just saw a non-member (SCAB) passing out campaign literature for haggerty. Why in the world would anyone use a scab to distribute this stuff ? Come on Haggerty do you not know anyone who is a member ? Are you intentionally using a scab ? maybe you didn't know he was a scab ? If you didn't then I would have to ask why not ?
And your running for Local president ? Not a chance.

I was wondering why the haggerty slate doesn't have anyone from detroit on it ? The mary thing really surprises me, I remember when mary used to hang out with berrien and practice her oratory skills on him during breaks.
Well alot of questions, but no answers.

Motor City: There we go. It's Detroit against the rest of the state. Doesn't that sound familiar? Detroit and other Michigan cities were once great and prospering but due to greed on the part of corporations and with the assistance of politicans have fallen into disarray.

General Dynamics is moving 100 employees from Muskegon to Detroit. Perhaps the company is saving thousands or millions with the move but the employees now have to uproot and buy a second house. Yet the corporation will not give any of the bottom line money to assist them.

If you read the article on the $297 million in losses for 1Q. Alot of it is compensation. Yet we still have all the upper over loaded management. Why is it that management is taking count of the mail. That in other business environment would be the job of an inventory clerk. You don't see Meijer's management with scanners in their hand or counting the amount of canned peas they have. And they get paid over $34 an hour? What a joke.
By the way Postmaster General Jack Potter read the report.

Pat, stay on topic.. we're talking about candidates and postal issues here. I know that the overall economic situation has an impact but we're trying to choose the lessor of four evils to vote for for local president. Seriously Jim.. having a scab hand out your stuff after you hound GR people to join up? wth

The lessor of four evils: What is evil about Cruz? Not one thing has been said against his character. Beside there's more than Local President. There's the VP, State Representative, Branch President, Recording Secretary and Treasurer.

Cruz was decertified by Haggarty but only the Local President can do that. Yet is was sustained to maintain a presume coherent unitified Local. Sure enough Haggarty pressed charges and the members have no minutes to know what was said or evidence presented at the trial. There's nothing that says that the members whose dues are being discussed shouldn't be allowed to attend at trail. Why would you want to hide anything from the members. This is where Cruz and I agree. We have to have an open forum and members needed to be treated like they are a part of the solution not part of the problem.

Too long we have tolerated being left in the Dark. Members need to be filling out their own grievances with the assitance of the steward and when something happens to the steward they can step in and file and fill out the grievance. Those computers are the members too not the Union officials only. There's no reason a member couldn't get on a computer set up to fill out greivances and let management answer not to stewards but to the members. Management cannot resist or attempt to divide a united working membership who will abide by the "an injustice to one is an injustice to all" philsophy

While we are on the topic. There's no reason we shouldn't have written explanation and stance by the Union on contractually issue in writing. It's absurd to have 3 to 4 stewards to state 3 to 4 different answers to a question. If you stand by your interpretation of the contract put it in writing. We have the right to know. The best thing that UAW Local 6000 did in their newsletter was to take a section of the contract and explain it line by line.

Experience with hearing what management is saying to the stewards helps in countering against bad interpretation. But how much better would it be if the members heard for themselves and read for themselves management's answer to our greivances. Once about 30 members hear the same clap trap from management the other 250 on the floor will hear from them and those will go in and file the same grievance against management when we win those grievances. Then management will be forced to abide by the contract because everyday they violate the contract there's no need to wait for a steward the member can go in and state they have a greivance and expect an answer. Then if management tries to stop the members from excercising their contractual rights those members will go to the Labor Board and we will as a united force bring the government in to make management keep their words.

When you walk by the conference room and you see the steward with the management designee and about a 3 inch high stack of folders with grievances in there you wonder why isn't the grievant in there too. If management had to face all those members face to face then they would stop violating the contract because they know we are going to meet them face to face. Now we have to hope we can wait like we do at the doctor's office to see a steward.

While we are on the subject: Has anyone seen a copy of the mortgage or mortgage statement to the building? If you asked you would be allowed to see it? Why would you as a member be denied that information? What is the Utility cost to that building? Is the heat turn down when not in use? Do you have an inventory of the original purchase price of items bought by the Union and is it depreciated on the LM-2 form?

How is your Union dues divided up between the Local and the National? How much does the National officer's make? What is the cost of their building and their heat? Do they turn down the thermostat at night. Wouldn't it be something that instead of just nice talk the representative of our union would go to the house that they pay for at a time when no one is there with the President and see what he has the temperature set at. Are there any lights left on? NIT PICKING. We can't be supporting someone else excess when we are getting excess out of town.

This are tough times and demand a tough stance. I'm afraid the members might not be tough enough. Many of the members have thrown in the towel but I'm getting riled up with all these posting and lack of just say it. So let's say it.

WHAT DO YOU AS A MEMBER WANT AND EXPECT OF YOUR OFFICIALS. SAY IT HERE AND SAY IT LOUD. TELL THEM WHY YOUR ANGRY. DON'T TAKE IT OUT AT WORK BRING IT OUT IN THE OPEN. LET'S TALK.

Pat, you can look at the LM2's online for the local and the national. Its not a secret. You want an employee to write their own step 1 for their discipline? Or do you want them to write their own step 1's for class actions?

I haven't got my ballot yet. Maybe Gary's in charge of them this year. So that means Gary would win branch pres., staton would win Local, garys sister would win treasurer, Derrick would win something, hell you might as well pull Shelton ( brother, brother, brother) out and give him a job, come on you've got to be kidding. Hicks for Branch Pres. I remember when he couldn't answer my questions when he was the self appointed Local pres. All he would do is give me a load of crap Derrick programmed into him. Gary was too busy cutting grass to give a shit about anyones else; anyone else except for Dunlap and that scank he was sucking up to. What a piece of shit.

Haggerty is using a scab ? What a piece of crap. I am sure that everyone remembers when Haggerty harrassed the non-member here in gr and ultimately forced her to resign. As i recall, all he had to say was that he was protected. He has turned into the laughing stock here in gr. Anyone that would actually think about putting a mark next to his name is a damn fool.
