BONAIRE,was it really a big deal that your MDO brang her 15 year old daughter to work. Do you really think she's gonna take your job ? Maybe she was showing her how we work at our job. Maybe if you was doing your job she would'nt of have to bring her daughter to work. Legal or not who cares and there is something you can do about it QUIT BEING BITTER. Now we know why STOCKTON is on the chopping block because you worry about petty stuff. There is far more way important things then that. Bonaire do THE USPS a favor GROW UP.

Last Sunday the weekend MDO brought her 15 years old daughter to work at mail handler's job at the Stockton's plant. I am wondering was this legal. Is anything we could do?

USPS, whatever is a small amount is still not more than $25,000 or less than $1.00. The small few may probably be larger than the last offering but still less than the 68,000 as planned. 2013 is 6 months away. Management/PMG had already said, this is an election year and holiday season is approaching so will probably target possibly the ready to leave who are hanging on.(senior)
The consolidation of Plants may help some of senior employees to be planning to retire.
The strength of the Union to restore older junior employees from the possible reassignment as NTFT 30 hour pay to 40 will also be a factor.
At one time the excess letter said 50 miles away but this new intent letter specifically say 900 miles. That's double your mileage.
What is misleading for the Pacific area is there had been some recent recall of employees from L.A. If you think about it, the reason to excess them was because they were junior employees. How will the intent letter be view by them now? Move again?
You are right, Postal Service will come out the winner! When the union negotiating the contract and allowed the reduced hours job to exist, they have screwed the employees. What is bad is we don't even hear much of what the union is doing for those reassigned to NTFT position and have they been fighting for their 40 hours pay. Not a word!
Sfclk last posting already said there is a meeting today so will the union pass on what was said?
Has anyone heard of any postmaster taking the $20G? I still don't think they'll get 21,000.

The Postal Service will come out a winner. If and/or when they offer money, it will be small amount that only a small few will take it. And when they start excessing, they will tell mail handlers, here are jobs for you, some 400-500 miles away or change craft and take NTFT positions to remain relatively close to home.

What do you say?

for 302, The doubters of "no money coming" is still being echoed. Of course they're by people who aren't eligible to retire. It'll come a day when all this downsizing will end and there is no need to have a buyout. By then these same people will remember back to this buyout and wishing for it. Hahahah!
2015 is the goal date to drop 150,000. What happen after that when they don't reach this number? By that time, the APWU contract will expire again and renegotiation for an already smaller workforce goes into action. There will be in place a couple of thousands if not tens of thousands of NTFT and PSE.
We are seeing for this moment of the Pacific Area "Intent". There will come a day when Headquarter begin to implement this nationwide.
If the career employees guaranteed 40 hours is not won by the unions converting employees to NTFT hours and more PSE hours or any less hour titled PTR, PTF that eventually all employees will be getting a new base annual salary of 25% less.
Eventually even annual leaves and sick leaves will be reduced.
I should change my name to Nostradamus ISC. What the Hell, we're all gone Dec 21, 2012 anyway! Hahahah!

ISC, this situation is so messed up. I thought they all knew weeks ago, but from the flurry of calls and texts I received last week, come to find out even the stewards had not been told about this excess. I told them all this was old news already. I guess Ernie and Tony Mayes wanted to keep it a secret. As of this past weekend they still weren't being forthcoming to the members. There are some big questions to be asked. They absolutely knew about it prior to last week, why else do you think that Ernie was hiding out and not showing up for work last week? He did make it to Fresno on Monday before taking the rest of the week off. Hmmm. Make your own assumptions. No one is Oakland, San Jose, or Sacramento has received any reassignment letters. Maybe clerks, I don't know. I had heard those NTFT positions for the clerks were being forced on them some time ago, but I can't confirm. Not only will they have to deal with excessing, but tour realignments as well. At least more bids are coming back to Tour 2. It's pretty funny considering how Tony Mayes tried to tell us how he was creating all these new bids. LOL Not too funny for the excessed mail handlers, though. They should be in the union office raising hell.

North Bay is not yet closing, but I'm pretty sure it eventually will. The plan right now is to turn it into a hub. The only surprise is how long they are taking to consolidate. Our Union is so lame that we will have to count on management to help us out. There aren't jobs around here for all those mail handlers from S.F. so they better hope a lot of people are retiring soon. The offer should be coming soon, but maybe all of them are waiting to see what Congress has to offer. I wouldn't expect much to occur there.

Ernie is back at work, giving out bad information based on what he has heard, not based on any facts or any type of work that the union leader should be doing. Damn, if I have to hear one more time how he has to check with Tony Coleman first before saying something...just get rid of this useless president.

for302, I had heard that there are FT employees being involuntarily reassigned to NTFT positions and now working 30 hours week at P&DC. As said, "Heard". Fact or not, someone can come on and verify it.
There are 86 positions for NTFT in SF, 26 in San Jose, 20 in Sacramento and I see 4 for Oakland/Vallejo. Since you're a North Bayer, guess you don't know if Oakland, San Jose or Sacramento employees gotten any letter of intent to reassign. The total is still 136. 31 of 167 is still unaccounted for or maybe I missed it.
I also think because since Oakland is absorbing you kids that's why there only 4 position for Oakland.
The 2 pdf from sfclk are of SF District only.
It does look like more mail handlers are need at San Jose, there are 16 positions either vacated and withheld.
With all these positions, why there is no words from either union is a mystery to me? Somebody should explain the INTENT to the people on the list.
The Union has 3 months before the intent is implemented. Notice is served when employees get their letter.
The 75 mail handlers are going to see the same excess letter as the past mail handlers to San Jose , depending on the arbitration if new jobs are created for shorter hours (NTFT) as the APWU gotten.
Nobody seemed to talk about what is in mediation and what was offered before mediation.
Who knows, maybe management will post PSE positions for mail handlers as they did for clerks using the NTFT formula? Whoaaa, what a thought!

Here's a pdf of from Doug A. Tulino, V.P Labor Relation to Lucine Willis, Director, Audit Operation

Starting at pages 27. They are withholding information because it may impact the union's negotiation.
Dated Sept 6, 2011. Shame on them!!!

sfclk, you may have hit the jackpot on the reassignments. The recent posting for NTFT did not produce the result management wanted. Maybe by abolishing junior employees bids they can reassign them the NTFt positions.
Problem is as FT career they still are going to be pay the 40 hours week not the 30-36 hours of NTFT.
The APWU adviced their craft emploees not to bid for them now resulting with lots
of residual. How this is going to play out is fun to watch. Imagine getting assigned 30 hours schedules and payed 30 hours. Can one afford the 25% cut until the union fight and win it back for you?
Now what about mail handlers?

Most residuals are NTFT jobs for the clerks.

In light of the "INTENT" of the SF District to involuntarily reassign 75 mail handlers and 167 clerks, where are the placement facility? Why produce a letter of intent if a plan hasn't been formulated to place an established number of employees?
As we all know of the consolidation of Stockton to Sacramento, North Bay to Oakland and PMA to SF P&DC. Where else can the 242 employees be reassigned to? What building is not being excessed?
Both Unions needs to investigate how the intent came about for San Francisco! The withheld says intent to reassign, so does it mean they may not be reassigned?
What is not said is if Sacramento will take them?
95799 is showing 1642 employees in its facility with about 328 mail handlers.
I heard a whisper that one or 2 might go to Sacramento. Someone should question Ernie and Tony Coleman if or what they know about this. Let the excuses of "we are in talk with management" come out now and to reveal what management has/had said about this. This letter of intent is set for August 11. Those of you who do not act to get immediate answers will see August 11 come quickly and then have no excuses but to blame themselves.
Seek out the How, When, Where and Why answers. Do settle for we are in discussions!
This intent letter is dated May 3, 2012 and it's already the 21st. Nobody can tell me that Richard Siu did not tell Ernie Grijalva of this Intent letter and that employees are finding this out just a few days ago? The letter is circled with Received May 7, 2012. Even after the Steward training Ernie must had known by 8 or 9th.
This also applied to the clerks crafts of Omar Gonzalez to Bob Williamson.
Both Union had 12-18 days for a meeting and is anybody asking if one had been set?
The driving distance from San Francisco to Sacramento is 1 hour 39 mins or 87.9 miles. A little further if you're coming from the South bay.
Clerks letter say 50 miles BUT mail handler letter say 900 miles. I think that covers Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico. You won't go to San Diego because the employees there went north. And you won't go to L.A because they just recalled some that were excess from here.
i don't think Hawaii is included because there was a plan to excess them to the mainland.
Buyout will come in the summer. $15,000 was LEAKED by Elijah Cummings of Maryland. Guess it's the same buyout as the last.
"Sweeteners" language is being used but that sweeteners $15,000 had been played before and only gotten 18,000 to retire.
$20-$25G is a sweeteners!

I justed to say that this Reno training was ok better then the last one that nobody was able to attend. But it sickens me too see Ernie handing out awards to Tony Mayes when all he does is shout because he doesn't know shit. I guess the real reason for the award was because he was his bitch ass driver. Or maybe that award went to the other Tony. Our union dollars down the drain.

Maybe it's not a bad thing to be excessed in the first phase of consolidation. You might get first crack at getting better jobs and a closer location.
