I'm sorry this happened to you, Brittney. My ex-girlfriend had her wallet stolen out of her purse once, the perpetrators made out with cash, credit cards, IDs, everything. It took her about a year to get things straightened out. They made out with about 8 grand all told. Luckily she wasn't responsible for it. She felt very violated, very angry at the world, and helpless to do anything about it. I know that's what you must feel like now.
Let me know if I can do anything other than just be here to listen while you vent.

The cry did me some good. Now I have a raging headache, though. I got to cry and cry and cry and cry where snot and big, long strands of spit stream down your pants and onto the floor.
Oh yeah. There was guttural moaning going on. I think I cried out loud, "But I work so hard!" When you get that fucking sad, that goddamn desperate, there is only up.
It's just $240. It's not cancer. It's not The End of the World (wouldn't want to steal George Jr.'s thunder). Something will work itself out. I'll borrow the money. Or something.
And, surprisingly, I'm not that pissed. Now. After the crying so hard my soul ripped. After that, I rationalized that the money is gone, never to be recovered and to worry myself with it is senseless.
I'm trying to pretend I never had it.

I don't get it. I mean, I really don't get it. What kind of person would reach into somebody else's purse (or whatever) and take a big wad of cash?
I suppose I can understand how a person could do that. I can understand how it would be tempting. Nobody's around, there's this purse, woo hoo free money. But how can a person do that and then look himself or herself in the mirror? How can you do that and not feel like a complete and utter loser?
You know, I think some people have too MUCH self-esteem.

Yeah, so. I am what is known as a complete and total crackhead. In every way.
As I was sorting dirty clothes just now, I found a $20. I smiled and thought, "God thought he'd thrown me a bone." Then another. Then another. Then I realized all at once astoundingly happy and morbidly ashamed that I'd accused someone of stealing from me. And a co-worker, no less. It's just we work with like 80 fucking people, some of which are 18 year old thugs who fry appetizers all night. Seriously. They can be shady. And all I knew was, THE MONEY IS NOT HERE. IT'S NOWHERE. IT'S BEEN JACKED.
Thanks so much for your concern, but your concerns might ought to lie in the ability of your humble (and not going to be evicted!) blog host to not jumping to fucking conlcusions and accuse people wrongly.
I feel like an ass, but I'm still going to LA. And the cry was really a very long time coming.
Though this headache might, I fear, be a long time receding.

Similar episode here, lately, though I'm usually not wearing pants when that happens.
My house-to-apartment moving adventure is not going well. Parkinson's Law is in charge. Anybody need a free waterbed? Whirlpool washer? Bookshelves? They'll be sitting at the curb, next to the overflowing trash can, soaking up the morning dew....

Corner of Tyne & East Castle in the 'Boro, a few blocks south of MTSU. Look for the red Dodge in the driveway. Bookshelves, file cabinets, exercise bikes, washing machine, waterbed (drained and disassembled) ... all will be stacked in front of the garage midday Monday, available to whomever would care to haul them away. Got a truck?

Your being neurotic again?, keeps the page on the edge, what adventure to read about Miss Brits. We cry, we laugh, we dance. Glad to hear you found the cash. A guy at work lost $600+, everybody chipped in like $20 each and gave him a total of $650, he was in tears because people helped out so generously. I was surprised too.
