The war was not about oil! The war was and is about the critical national security of the United States at a difficult time of dealing with terrorists and terrorism. The Iraq war is about promoting democracy in the world, about ensuring the future of our way of life and freedom. The war in Iraq is a critical measure of Bush foreign policy to engender change throughout the Middle East, a foundational step for the future of a more peaceful and prosperous way of life. The United States has been given the power to ensure the security of the international system, and it is the responsibility of the country to exert its power to promote peace and democracy throughout the world. And the United States should not stop with Iraq, but continue with its responsibility by dealing with Iran and North Korea in an equally swift and decisive manner. Diplomacy will not work. There is no other way of dealing with the terrorists but through coercive force. I used to believe in diplomatic measures, but it is clear that the forces that face the international state cannot be reasoned with. The United States only need the appearance of diplomacy, knowing in the end that a real solution will only be found through sanctioned punishments and military force. It is the only way to ensure our freedom, our democracy and republic will survive into the new century - firewalled by the critical measures of domestic surveillance and the Patriot Act at home. Its not like they put every person on a message board under surveillance, only the terrorists. THE TERRORISTS! That is what we are faced with, terrorists and terrorism. And the only way to deal with them is through the U.S. responsibility to punish those that threaten our security and way of life.
