Oh, and to those who believe the War in Iraq is about oil: America imports the majority of it's oil from other Middle Eastern countries, specifically Saudi Arabia. And oil most likely won't be a long-term profitable resource, in 50 years we will have found a new way to fuel our vehicles and other machinery. I believe they don't do it now because they are trying to make as much money as possible before the need for oil decreases. We have the technology, it's just not cost-efficient to introduce it. (Which brings me to another point, America has let money rule all major political decisions, and as a result, the government is extremely corrupt.)

I agree that we should not have troops in Iraq. As far as Bush says, we were there to capture Saddam Hussein because his power over the country of Iraq threatened the U.S. (whether he actually had WMDs or not, he still at least had the means to get them). Now, Hussein is taken out of power, and it is up to the people of Iraq to decide what is the best government for them. It is their choice, you cannot force a culture to accept democracy, all peoples are different, and who are we to say that democracy is the correct form of government? We Americans tend to forget that our country is an experiment, and we are a very young nation compared to other world powers. Let the Iraqis handle it their own way. Bush justifies this war by saying that we are spreading democracy and freeing oppressed peoples, and if that is true, why are we not doing that in Africa? Or in North Korea? The fact is, and history proves it, that certain cultures are dominant in a time period, that country happens to be the most successful (AKA rich) nation. Back in the day, those inferior (at the time!) cultures were conquered, and they were conquered in a fair way, simply because they were weaker. The world has become too politically correct and corrupt at the same time. Honestly, what can the U.N. really do to change anything? They have no army, no way to enforce their decisions. That is human nature, to fight to the death for what you believe and what you think is right, and at the same time, to prove yourself superior and more deserving of passing on your genes and beliefs. Unfortunately, fighting and war is the only way that humans can prove themselves as being stronger. Why is it important to be stronger? Because it is the ultimate proof that you belong on earth, all animals do it, why should humans be any different?

New Iraqi Law....No more motor vehicles....if they need to go somewhere, they can ride a bicycle. That will surely lessen the suicide bomber casualty rate...

You're right, of course. This war was NOT about oil. It was about WMD. The magical, disappearing, invisible kind of WMD.
Whatever the war was about, it was NOT about trying to force democracy on a country. It was NOT about getting rid of a legitimate president, and it was NOT about making such a mess of it as to be in a position in 2007 whereby that said country is on the verge of civil war.
The bombs did NOT fall on just terrorists, they fell on civilians. Women, children, people's mothers, fathers, daughters.
Can you not see that forced democracy is as ludicrous as democratic Marxism?

I believe the Iraq situation has always been about US presence in the middle east - expansion of global influence, etc; so, yes - oil!
When will the citizenry of the United States stand up and demand accountablility from its elected officials? Even those that support this incursion must admit that we are spending billion$ we do not have; ever expanding the money supply (true inflation) that reduces the value of our US currency. The American public are sheep receiving its direction from the subservient lapdog mult-media talking heads.
The United States needs NOT become entangled in the foreign affairs of other nations. Screw the UN; kick them OUT! Extricate ourselves from that black hole of entanglements. Isolationism? Hardly! The United Nations is not about solving problems, but about involving itself to achieve its own ends of power. Intelligent handling of one's own affairs recognizes the sovereignty of foreign governments. Did the debacle of Viet Nam teach us nothing? Getting involved in a civil conflict thousands of miles away from our region is sheer lunacy.
Saddam was a bad boy with the bully pulpit in a region of bad boys. Has removing Saddam stabilized the region? Did Saddam kill as many people as the butchers of Tienamen Square? And yet the US cozies up to the Red menace in the name of free trade! What a joke! The United States has enough problems in the United States, yet the internationalists remain intent on increasing their power base to include the entire world. We the People of the United States must demand of our government to use OUR resources for the security and comfort of United States citizens. Leave the middle east to the middle east. By not doing so, the US has played right into the hands of all factions of Islamic extremism. Exert pressure through diplomacy and the big stick. No more propping up regimes that are unable to sustain themselves. Remove the US military from foreign lands. NOW!

George Supporter, you say: "The war was and is about the critical national security of the United States at a difficult time of dealing with terrorists and terrorism" but here is my question. When, and correct me if I'm wrong, the United States fearing an attack from Iraq? Also, you're implying that to promote democracy in the world, a country needs to physically fight with the people and force it upon them. You talk about how the United States has been given the power to secure the security of the internation system as well, but who granted this power? When the US declared war on Iraq, the Brits were with us, but everyone else was against us. So who gave us this "power"? And who is classified as a terrorist? Are the people of Iraq all terrorists? If we should be focused so much on terrorists, why haven't we found Osama yet? Why have much of our efforts shifted from the country that flew planes into our buildings and killed innocent people to a country who has diplomatic problems?

The war was not about oil! The war was and is about the critical national security of the United States at a difficult time of dealing with terrorists and terrorism. The Iraq war is about promoting democracy in the world, about ensuring the future of our way of life and freedom. The war in Iraq is a critical measure of Bush foreign policy to engender change throughout the Middle East, a foundational step for the future of a more peaceful and prosperous way of life. The United States has been given the power to ensure the security of the international system, and it is the responsibility of the country to exert its power to promote peace and democracy throughout the world. And the United States should not stop with Iraq, but continue with its responsibility by dealing with Iran and North Korea in an equally swift and decisive manner. Diplomacy will not work. There is no other way of dealing with the terrorists but through coercive force. I used to believe in diplomatic measures, but it is clear that the forces that face the international state cannot be reasoned with. The United States only need the appearance of diplomacy, knowing in the end that a real solution will only be found through sanctioned punishments and military force. It is the only way to ensure our freedom, our democracy and republic will survive into the new century - firewalled by the critical measures of domestic surveillance and the Patriot Act at home. Its not like they put every person on a message board under surveillance, only the terrorists. THE TERRORISTS! That is what we are faced with, terrorists and terrorism. And the only way to deal with them is through the U.S. responsibility to punish those that threaten our security and way of life.

Doesn't anyone notice, or care about, the facism that is slowly creeping into the U.S. gov.? In all the laws, acts, provisions, there are less and less fair balances in the systems implemented now. The gov. is either all out lieing about their actions, or just flat out saying "it is none of your business", we are being so apathetic as citizens, so lazy, unconcerned, and gulliable, it is sad. And they are keeping us all just broke enough, that we are unable to fight them legally. So tired from working to keep up with their soaring taxes, and just daily cost of living, that we may as well be slaves. And our young people have so few job options, that many poor and middle class kids are signing up for war, excuse me, occupations...this gov. is ruining a once great nation, and someday we will be in a police state...we are almost there now. Verichips are infiltrating stores and products, and we are so lazy, it will be touted as a "convenience", and slowly accepted, then totally required. If we want to keep what little liberties we have left, we need to vote ALL the criminals in Wash. out this coming Nov. and in 08...and in the meantime, we need to DEMAND that voting machines are kept honest. The new electronic machines are too easily manipulated...this has happened, and will continue to happen unless we all stand up against voter fraud...that is the basics...but it takes all of us...not just a few. If you think your opinion doesn't matter, please think again. It does. Email, call and write all your Congress people and Senators...every week, if necessary...we must save our country. If not for ourselves, for our children...E.

Chris, You're talking about how Sadam is bad and that it's important to remove him. I tell u this... - Do you think the American army was unable to get rid of him in 1991?!! - Do you know what were the consequences of the 10 years sanctions?? - Do you know what else they destroyed other than the iraqi army in 1991?? - Do you know who gave Iraq all these weapons of mass destruction?? - What do you think about the US navy in the persian gulf?? Still protecting the freaking gulf countries?!! pfff!!
I honestly dont hold a grudge against ur country or its civilians! I just despise ur government... Oil Oil Oil, check out the middle east history, and u will see all these invading countries were coming for oil. The middle east itself was invaded by every bloody great power in the last 50 years!!! FACE THE FACTS.

It makes me sick to my stomach to hear people blame the Iraq war on America's greed and need for oil. First of all, America is on the cutting edge of doing away with the need for oil altogether. GM is scheduled to release it's first hydrogen powered car to the public in 2006. What other country has worked so diligently on this project? Also, the world's first fusion reactor is scheduled to be complete in America in 2012,thus providing endless energy for the entire world. Second of all, how anyone can overlook the tragedys and genocide committed by Saddam and his regime are beyond me. So what if Bush's administration made up the report of WMDs to gain the UN's support to go into Iraq. I think it's appalling that it takes something like that to get their support when innocent women and children are dying at record numbers in Iraq. This war is worth it, just to liberate the women of Iraq. What they have gone through brings a tear to my eye when I think about it. My best friend's mother was raised in Iraq, and the stories she has told me of women being abused is sickening. Did any of you know that saying no to a man, even for sexual favors, is an offence punishable by death or disfigurement. Make that,WAS, thanks to Bush

the western powers can only dream of dominating the globe. over 100,000 innocent iraqi men, women, and children, have been killed by George 'the monkey' Bush and his neo-cons. the US will fix the Iraqi elections so they can have party in power that will secure their interests. the days of Colonialism have long been over. a new world order is in its nascent stages. western powers beware.

This war is about U.S domination. I have never liked your country but I have always had a certain degree of respect...not anymore. Often we have wondered how the German people during Hitler's reign, could have denied the existence of death camps. American citizens now have a mass media that one would expect would enlighten, yet most Americans continue to believe that Saddam was responsible for 911. Your patriot act(s), in my opinion is more suited to a Soviet regime. Your executive branch is profiting from the death and destruction in Iraq and at home you have an estimated 8 million children without access to health care. You strive to dominate outside your borders while a rot takes place within.

As much as I'd like this Iraq saga to end with a happy ending sooner rather than later, after looking at Vietnam War timelines, such as the one on www.vietnamwarinfo.com and substituting in names and dates for those in this war, it looks frighteningly similar and doesn't end with a happy ending.

I'm sick of hearing negative news about it. Our soldiers conquered one of seven terrorism sponsoring nations of the world (Iraq), and caused another to give up their WMD weapons program(Libya). In 1991, they took Iraq, with the fourth largest army in the world, and 50% destroyed it. In 2003, in a couple weeks, they finished it off, removed an evil, murderous, and totalitarian government, with WMD's, out, and liberated 27 million people.
Now, due to treasonous Democrat mainline news media activity, Islamic radicals and Iran have summed up that Americans, having the only superpower military in the world, can't stand to have 800 combat deaths and several thousand injuries, without a political disaster for the party in the White House. So, accordingly, the Iranians are going ahead with building a nuclear ICBM fleet. Furthermore, they are half responsible for the roadside bombings, assassinations, and infrastructure attacks, as they've been recruiting, training, equipping, and sending Islamic soldiers over the boarder to do all this.
Can anyone doubt that they would not also use nuclear ICBM's against us, as well as conduct megadeath biological attacks, if allowed to progress unmolested? Radical Islam is the enemy, and we are slated for death according to their "religion".
I am sick of some troublemakers somewhere around the world always disturbing the peace. Can't they leave well enough alone? Do we have to hear about their crap all the time, and face their constant threats?
Those bastards should realize we are being nice with them. We have the means to destroy them from off the face of the earth. They should be damn glad we are a nice nation. I wish the radical Islamic world would shut the hell up and behave.
