I agree with Joe on the plan to inform on these do nothing supervisors. IT WOULD WORK. Most of them are uneducated buffoons, promoted through poor hiring practices, cronyism, affirmative action, etc. and HAVE NO BUSINESS HAVING THE JOBS THEY DO TO BEGIN WITH (even if the jobs WERE necessary)

yeah, Sam, I agree with you.... but, WHO do you go to to inform on them??? the OIG bounces it back to the district consumer affairs people who in turn contacts the offender with a heads up. then, what do you do?

We inform on them by entering the offenders name and offense in a local union database. Once a month the information is sent to the local POOM with notice that copies are being sent to the Distric officials, Washington postal officials, and the local congressman. Things will eventually get embarrassing for the POOM, and District officials. Sooner or later someone will HAVE to start investigating. State Union officials could start sending letters asking why nothing is being done to protect the revenues that are being wasted.
They like to get us on video, nowadays it would be quite easy to do the same to them. I got a supervisor that ties up the phone line for hours talking, whispering, laughing etc. When he's off the PM calls in a cute little 204b who literally doesn't know how to do anything. They pay this person $30/hr to just look HOT

that's interesting, JOE. what part of the country are you in? out west here, never heard of such a thing. guess I'll call the union rep and check on it.
have you actually had any investigations because of this database reporting? what were the results?

No baffled clerk, there is no such system in place. I am saying in post #2868 that we NEED a system like this. A UNION led, coordinated, official system. Sam is just agrreeing and says it WOULD work. http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/253579/ Here is an article about 80,000 dollar a year PM positions being filled that the author claims don't have 4 hours work per day. These Managers will run this organization into the ground before they will cut their own. Yet they justify their existence by penny-pinching me during rural counts, torturing the city carriers, and gutting the clerk craft. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a coordinated system to combat this prime example of BS? Official Union letters to the POOM asking why this money is being wasted, with copies being sent to Area, Washington postal officials (potter), and Congress? Alas, will never happen. This effort would have to come from the top

Did anyone see the new FSS standard? 69 flats per minute. Where did they get this number?

what I would like to know is--what has the association done about the summer sale that we are carrying all of this EXTRA pre-sort standard mail for NOTHING--every day is a mailing, dish, direct tv, extra boxholders. As the steward in my office, I have had 2 regulars withdrawl from the union, 2 others are talking about it, and the only 2 subs, are getting the paperwork ready for their upcoming anniversary date!!

Hi everybody I am in the middle of a w/comp mess with carpal tunnel and trigger thumb.I can't seem to get a doctor to use the correct catch phrases and convince the dept of labor that after 22 years as a regular my job caused this. The docs seem to regard the dept of labor as a situation best avoided. This has to be a widespread discriminatory practice. Is workers comp a mirage? I have had an appeal hearing, turned down again and have written my senators.I would have lost my home by now if hadn't saved vacation & sick leave. This has to be a class action practice by these bastards.

I'm an RCA and I am assigned to a route. Does the post office I'm stationed at have the right to schedule me for a different route without asking me first?

I do not like to file greviances and only will if I have to, so far I have not. I am thankful for the hours, but I have another job and how am I supposed to know if I am scheduled if no one lets me know? Yes, I am very interested in what the legal outlines have to say about the subject.

Cougress: If you are not a union member, you should think about joining. The contract essentially requires the primary sub on the route (assigned sub of record) be assigned to work in the regulars absence. Your office is required (contractually) to have a matrix which lists primary, second and third sub for each route. You could file (and surely win) a grievance if you were required to be assigned to work the route by contract and were not allowed to work the route. This assumes you were available to work the route (no documented performance issues, no potential for exceeding 40 hours in a week, etc). I encourage you to check the contract. Of course like "finally retired" said, you could just roll over, be glad you have a job, and let them screw you. I've never been one to run and hide so I recommend you discuss this issue with your supervisor in anticipation of the need to file a grievance.

Need pictures of your hands. We are doing a video on postal workers hands on youtube. The dept of labor denies 50% of carpal tunnel claims. They could be taken against a dark background or in the positions of doing your job in stressful positions, cracked and bleeding, cold and scarred. We need them, letting the world see. Please send them to pfmorris58@hotmail.com
