Swim Families:

A few items about Thursday and a few about other things:

1. I am calling all of you who signed up to help with the dinner today or tomorrow. Our schedule is still pretty bare so if you can come Thursday and help prep, serve, slice or any of the other jobs we will be doing, please sign up at the pool OR call me OR email me so I know who I can put down on my list. We have several time slots available so you can work just a short amount of time OR the whole evening--whatever works best for your schedule. 872-2406/521-5607 or RochelleGarrett@hotmail.com

2. If you are making a salad please make a minimum of 10 cups (about a double recipe if you are making the kind of salad I am). We welcome any type of salad you do well EXCEPT a green salad. Pasta, potato, macaroni...It's all good. Right now I only have enough salad for 120 people and we plan to serve about 400 so please help out. Remember, this counts for 2 hours of your 10 hours family commitment. Deliver to the Paradise United Methodist Church no later than 4:30 on Thursday. It's best if you send in a bowl marked with your name or a disposable container.

3. The past few Friday we have been having breakfast provided by various families. I am going to post a sign-up sheet at the pool and if you are interested in bringing some items for Friday Food Day feel free to put your name down. Let's try to keep it healthy (yogurt parfaits this week?) The kids love it.

4. Finally, Sierra Nevada Swimming will be holding a golf tournament in Lincoln later this summer. They ask that each swim team send a golfing team and/or sponsor a hole. If you are interested in either of these options, I will have information at the pool. The money raised helps to pay for the Junior Olympics meet.

Enjoy your beautiful Tuesday!

Swimmers and Families:
The past two Friday's we have offered food after practice.
The first week we offered pancakes, and last week we offered bagels and cream cheese. (Yes I know we offered doughnuts as well, but that was for Katie's b-day....special treat.)

I would like to continue offering food on Friday's. I believe the kids really enjoy it. I also see this as an opportunity to encourage kids to eat breakfast on a regular basis.

I would like to continue offering food on Friday's after practice, and provide positive breakfast options. This can teach our kids that breakfast is an important meal, that provides the necessary fuel to start the day.

We have seven weeks left in our summer season, which gives us the opportunity to provide seven choices of breakfasts for our kids. I believe that we can set an example, and encourage our kids to make positive choices about the food they choose to fuel their growing bodies.

This Friday, I would like to offer yogurt w/fruit and granola topping. I will provide the yogurt and spoons, and Rochelle has offered to provide cups to serve the food in.

I would appreciate if a few families would offer to provide a few pieces of fruit, that we can cut up and add to the yogurt, or a handful of granola that we can sprinkle over the top.

If you would like to contribute to breakfast, please send it with you,(or your swimmer,) on Friday morning, and we will make sure that the breakfast is prepared, and ready for your swimmer after practice.

I would like to continue providing food every Friday throughout the season.
My idea for next Friday's "menu item," will be instant oatmeal.
If you have ideas beyond that, please feel free to give me your suggestions.

The idea is to present quick, positive breakfast options, that are easy to make,(hopefully the kids can learn to make them on their own,) as well as inexpensive.

Thank you in advance for supporting this opportunity to teach our children about positive food choices.

Swim Families~

A huge thank you to all of you that helped with our dinner this evening. It went flawlessly!! Our serving crew was so on top of it that we never once had to make a car wait to fill an order. Way to go folks!

We will be selling the cooked tri-tip roasts tomorrow at the pool during practice times. A full, unsliced roast will be $20. We also have bagged salad for $2 and one dozen hoagie rolls for $2.50. If you cannot make it during practice but would like to purchase any of the above items, please call me and let me know. Last year we sold out quickly so be sure to get in contact with me ASAP. 521-5607.

If you have not yet turned in your ticket money please do so immediately so that we can get an accurate accounting for this event. I will not be able to accept any tickets--only money. Thanks for your understanding.

Again, thank you all for making our event such a fun and--hopefully--very profitable one!

Back by popular demand!!
Drop a second-drop a penny.
For each second dropped on a swim, please bring a penny to drop in the team jar. This provides a visual representation of improvement over the course of the season. It is also a great time to recognize our swimmers accomplishmnets.
If you or your swimmer participated at the FRAC and Durham meets, please be prepared to drop pennies tomorrow.
We will drop pennies on Tuesdays following meets.

Our next meet will be Gridey this coming weekend. If you have entered this meet, please make sure that you have provided me with a confirmation.

The next meet we should be signing up for will be the Chico Invite, (being held at the Durham Pool.)
Entries are being accepted at Swimconnection's new Online Meet entry site at: http://ome.swimconnection.com

This is a new site and may be slightly different than the old swimconnection entry site. Please check it out and let me know if there are any problems.

If you would like to swim at the Chico Meet, you should sign up ASAP.

Swim Families~

Our Food Fridays continue to be a hit with the kids! This week's oatmeal and fruit was a tasty and healthy option. Next week we are planning breakfast burritos. I will post a sign-up at the pool on Monday, but just in case you are shopping this weekend, here's what we will need:

4 dozen eggs
48 tortillas
2 tubs sour cream
2 tubs salsa
shredded cheese
2 jugs of juice

Potatoes, bacon, plates, forks and cups are covered.

We also have two fundraisers coming up soon. First, we are planning a car wash on July 11th. Location and time TBA.

Second, the Lap-a-Thon on July 15th. We could really use a chairperson to head up the Lap-a-Thon. This would entail arranging for prizes for top pledge earners, managing lap counters the day of the event and having refreshments available for swimmers and counters. We also will need people to bbq after the swimming is done. Families needing to meet their hour/fundraising commitments can donate time and/or food for this event. If you are interested in helping plan and execute this event, please talk to me, Joan or Brian at the pool. We can give you some pointers.

Finally, I will have July statements available next week with an updated total of your hours, fundraising to-date and any monies owed. I am also enclosing 2 SHARES cards for each family. These can be used at Save Mart and a percentage of your purchases will be donated to the swim team. There is absolutely NO COST to use these cards--simply swipe before you enter your form of payment and we get $$$.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

All Parents & Swimmers:
Please make sure you check the Board this week at the pool. There will be some important information regarding the team.
1) On July 7th, we will be having team picture and individuals. Flyer's will be available at the pool this week. Team picture will be at 8am with individuals to follow. If you have purchased a team shirt, please have your simmer(s) wear it. I do realize we didn't have team suits this year, but if we could kind of coordinate it would be great.
2) We are planning to have a Car Wash on July 11th @ Skyway Towing. If you need to complete your hours or fundraising requirments this is a way to do that. We need people willing to wash cars. Please contact Kim Wright @ 228-0532 or email @ kw95969@aol.com if you are willing to participate.
3) Fall Season- If you are interest in swimming through October, please contact Rochelle Garret or Joan Hasek. We need a firm commitment from those that are interested.
4) Board of Directors Elections:If you would like to help there are some open postions on the board.

A few things:

Statements went home today with most swimmers detailing money owed, hours met and fundraising met. If you haven't seen one CHECK THE SWIM BAG! If your kids are anything like mine it is at the bottom, wadded up and under that wet towel :) Each family should get a statement and at least one SHARES card. Questions about anything in your statement can be directed to me at rochellegarrett@hotmail.com, call me at 872-2406 or talk to me at the pool.

Also, tomorrow night's dual meet against FRAC will have a snack bar with tri-tip sandwiches, cold drinks, snow cones and a bit of candy. If you would like to get some hours met we can use some help running that. Timing chairs will also need to be filled.

Finally, look for Lap-A-Thon information and picture packets to be coming home tomorrow.
Julie Johnston  1098

I will be there and can help run the snack bar. What time do you need me? Julie Johnston
