The second one sounds sarcastic. He/she seems to think the first one was necessarily a Christian, though I'm not sure why. Despite the strong language and poor taste in "presentation", the first one does have a quite valid underlying point, you have to admit.

It would be neat if the last two posts were the same person.

Ok, To Lefties ALL are R.Wing , The Lord our Saviour Jesus Christ has appointed ME to troll this board and expose the sins of Xeni and the other Clinton loving feminazis on this board! I didn't get up early before morning prayer to write my own rant about her debauchery to have you come on here and snipe the opportunity away from me! I'll just have to get up at 5:15am next time to show you whats it feel like to be the second fiddle in the Lord's holy orchestra.

Look, i don't need any help around here pointing out the road to hell Xeni is leading all these gullible virgin techies - I can do that myself. Why don't you go condemn somewhere else, like Metafilter? Heck, some of those guys are openly gay in their profiles - and there's even buddhists there!

I was here first, so even if you do lead some of these souls away from the devil into the loving arms of Our Lord, I still get the credit, and I will get the advancement in the army of the Lord, not you, so BLESS OFF!!!

It's so exciting to see that Xeni's shock fetishes are finally migrating into the seamy sexy world of pedophilia. A few people around here have predicted this and it was bound to happen. This is a quite clever way to introduce the rest of the tech-heads on BoingBoing to this Xeni fave gently.

Let me tell you, from getting a glimpse inside her "world", all the leather, latex, homoeroticism, vomit protests, scatalogicial anti-religious art, Bush bashing, nude exhibitionism and the like can;t hold a weak candle to where she's planning to take you now! Set the controls for the heart of San Francisco! It's going to be a wonderful, nightmarish ride.

And don't forget, God has no business being a part of this world or your morals! Let the debauchery continue - at a whole new and wonderful level!

Vive la Jardin!

Illegitemi non carborundum, Xeni. (Don't let the bastards get you down.) I for one enjoyed the SARS thing[*] (although might I suggest a traditional image-gallery-with-thumbnails format next time?) A lot of those people, I wonder what they're even doing reading boingboing--if they really can't stand your posts or Cory's, well, that's like 75%+ of the whole blog, right now. And they could always click on the little links at the top to just see Mark & David's stuff...

[*] Yes, the folk art exhibit, not the disease.

(and from there, there are several links down the right-hand side of the page to other scanned-in works from his childhood in the early '80s...)

Art, no I hadn't. That's wonderful. I'd make a joke about this becoming the next SARS folk art series on BoingBoing, but, ah, don't know if I can handle a fresh round of flames today. ;-)

xeni: Have you seen Stark Effect's Mic In Track page? Apparently, MusicMatch Jukebox (or some other popular Windows mp3 program) names microphone recordings "Mic In Track n" by default, and searching Kazaa for these results in a whole passel o' amateur recorded glory.

(On the "Nerds when they were kids" tip, I actually drew a bunch of my favourite game company logos on one of my grade six binders, but it's probably long gone, so NO SCAN FOR YOU![/soup nazi])

The audio stuff sounds hilarious. I did tapes like that when I was a girl, too -- alternately pretending to be a rollerdisco DJ or an astronaut -- would be fun to dig them up. It would be a hoot to be able to browse some thematically-linked audio like that online. Say, if someone posted a collection of links to streaming versions of video-game or tech-related "found" child audio recordings. Nerds, when they were kids. If anyone knows of sites that exist, please post 'em here!

This thread got me thinking of something that I recently re-discovered while unpacking, packing and repacking storage boxes. Two friends (I'll protect their anonymity) and I crafted The Ten Commandments of Dating Ettiquette. At the time we were about 14, and obviously knew very little about dating.

It's not strictly fiction, but I think it does predict my future as a technical writer. The sad thing is how little I've learned in the intervening years.

Haha. My brother and I did something similar, but not quite as organized. We would run around banging things together and write "Weird Noises" on the tape's label and made our friends guess what was making the noises.

Yeah, I did some tape recording too...some kind of audi newsmagazine format I think. All I remember is one particuarly lame segment called "quotable quotations" where I would say stuff like "and now, a word from a whistle" and then blow a whistle a few times. Same for a bell. Mostly I remember singing the "quotable quotations" theme song which was just that phrase repeated a few times to a jazzy little tune.

Flattered to get the link promotion, xeni!

When I was a kid I used a tape recorder to make a "self help" type guide to aggravating your parents, although at the time I couldn't say the word "aggravating" very well and it usually came out "avergating."

I'll have to find it and rip it.
