Yeah, while watching the extinction of the human race, I like to do the same thing.
Any hole will do ...

Haven't seen American Ring, though have seen Ring, Ring2 and Ring-0. (Ring-0 is the prequel and probably the weakest of the two, though still creepy and worth a watch). It sounds a little like 'bad book great movie syndrome' with the book. If you are still truly looking for that hit of skin crawl you got from the first Ring then I highly advise you go and see Dark Water, the next in line by the Ring makers. It's not quite as creepy all the way through as Ring, but once it pays off, boy does it pay.

"Dark Water" is truly great, one of those movies where you could eliminate the supernatural aspect entirely, make it purely a psychological/character study, and still have an extremely nervewracking film.

Saw this on Amazon the other day -- Ring and Battle Royale package deal. Wasn't sure if I had seen that right until now. Can't wait to get my greedy hands on either one. Am expecting a lot of bizarre stuff. Don't want to get into it here, but I've seen Ring, Ring 2, Ring 0, Ring Virus, and The Ring -- have only missed Rasen -- and if there's only 1/10th the whacked out crap I'm expecting in this book, it will be worth it. Dark Water was one of my favorites, too. Also recommend Kaïro. That's not just a "me too" comment either. You guys really need to see that if you haven't yet.
