I live in New Jersey, and I was just in court recently for a traffic violation. There were strict rules about cel phones in court. If they saw it, they were to confiscate it, find you in contempt of court, and allow you to file all the appropriate paperwork to get your propety back. Easier to turn it off and put it away.
