/m2101 the concern by "some" is that the SSA program is a means to evaluate/discipline a clerk if they don't meet revneue goals . . . so thats why the comment about skewing the numbers with stamp sales.
And you are correct it doesn't matter who inputs what, as they are not evaluating a clerk for their daily revenue.

we get so few stamps sales, but I'm like you . . . no one else tends to do them when we do.

. . . but don't forget some offices have clerks that will always think the grass is greener on the other side and will do anything to be pet for PM.
And certainly a PM can make it appear that way too.
Its games for those that are bored with their jobs or lack self esteem. I've seen a few come through our office that way. Sad individuals.

Our PM has a way of looking at the walk in revenue. He keeps score and then berates us in front of customers and other clerks/carriers for the low income.

Your PM is a bully and a jerk. First thing, file a grievance. He has no right to treat people this way. If you can, ask a customer who witnessed this juvenile behavior to call a state congressman or senator and complain about it. Or do it yourself. You can also call the district POOM or district manager. People who behave in this manner make me sick. Good luck. Please let us know what happens.

Publicly ask the PM for any suggestions he/she might have to offer to increase your walk-in revenue. Let the PM know this is also a concern of yours, and that you're always open for a little CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. Then, follow through. Also, find a book on "transactional analysis" and read it. Then, give it to your PM to read. This should be required reading for anyone in a leadership position.

There is no way to increase the walk in revenue as we only get maybe two customers and hour, tops, except at lunch and then we get about ten. I try to sell them every product that we have. I try to push stamps, bringing out all that we have, tell them about our great tape as one guy here did, explain all of the services, and all of the products. I never mention PP or FC. I push Express and Priority only. But, no dice. I work in a very small town where people come in to buy money orders and one stamped envelope.

I have tried to drum up click n ship, but they don't like the main clerk who is usually at the window so they take their business to the next town.

Thank you fo the name of the book. I will pick it up tomorrow and read it and then give him the book, Who Moved The Cheese as he is going to need it at this rate.

Plus, he told us that he went from OIG to PM, but another PM told me that isn't true that he is still our OIG. I can only pray.

On a side note, I was told to leave the premises after two hours today. The OIG is out of town and we have the FTR playing Stupidvisor. I had to tell her that the OIG told me that I could make copies off of the clock, of my schedule.

She is power hungry. The clerk below me, and mind you the number of customers that we get, stays all day. Yesterday, I understand she cleaned an office when that is her sister's job as the custodian as she was bored.

When both clerks where gone, the PM and I busted out the box section and I was out of there.

The Stupidvisor is playing favorites. I have written to the District Manager, so I hoep that helps. I asked permission from the union as the PM had a gag order on me not to go over his head.

It's not about what you do or don't do to increase revenue, it's about putting the ball back in their court after they've publicly berated you.

/m2106 look him up on http://www.usps.com/postmasterfinder/
Its not totally accurate, but those with ego's like to get their name posted on this site quickly. You can tell if you have an OIC or PM.
If not listed, there is a site floating around that tells incomes of all PM's, I'll see if I can dig that up, if you need it.

southernclerk: Oh yes, POS can break down transactions by individual. Got a call one morning that the sup had posted a spreadsheet showing every clerks "scores" in relation to their "goals". The one with the best performance is the one who refused to sell PP. If a custie wanted to ship PP, she would sell them stamps and make them affix them so the POS would not know she sold it.

Hey, I got a copy of the book written by the chief steward of Royal Oak at their PO shooting in 91. It is called "The Tainted Eagle" 'The Truth Behind the Tragedy'. by Charlie Withers.
Pretty bizarre. So far it starts out, that on the morning of the shootings, management was making a big deal about people keeping the noise down. On his way, with another steward to write up grievances on managers who had been making racial slurs, two individuals were sent home. One two loud, one for whistling "It's beginning to look like Christmas". Then the gunshots started going off. Management that had been investigated in Indianapolis by Congress for bad behavior had been sent to Royal Oak, and had created a bad environment. The union knew, but failed to pass this on. National even tried to get him to do nothing about the fact that management was highly aware of the threats by the employee/gunman, and their request for protection never came, yet they failed to warn employee's. National failed protocol in warning the Chief steward, that the employee who went over the edge, had lost his arbitration, so that there was no warning for employees. The harassment towards the angry employee had escalated after he had filed an EEO complaint. Skipping through the book, there are some pretty bizarre incidents of harassment, such as a mgr, knowing he was terminated, went so far to call Tom McCelvane's home, and when she got a busy signal, used an operator to interrupt his call, saying it was an emergency, and actually ordering him to report to work. Guess he didn't have call-waiting back then. Doctoring of his tape-recorder which an expert examined, destroying documents, all managers involved, and some that weren't even there all were given indefinite stress leave, while traumatized employees got nothing. Even when a shot steward's attorney sued the local union, NALC wrote letter they would not aid the local financially. Lot's of page of documents included in the book, to include Committee On Post Office and Civil Service U.S. House of Reprentatives (didn't know we had one) that managements harrassement "drove a man to kill" and lack of the USPS providing security. To me it's alot of postal terms that the public might not understand, but thought it would be a good read for employees, managers, and their "families" to see just how the USPS works and the early signs to possibly keep this type of horror from happening ever again. There seems to be a pattern, such as we all know about the remove promote the bad ones. A local Target had the book, but not sure all Targets. /m2111 the spreadsheet is from the SAA program that is linked to POS. Yes you can break down each clerks numbers. But keep in mind the percentiles are only based off of numbers the PM puts into the SAA. Presently the POS numbers going into SAA have no idea how long you've been on the window - it just has your revenue numbers. The PM must input hours.

And we've received emails instructing PM to post the goals for the day prior to opening to "somehow" spark the interest of the window clerks to be goal oriented. I'm sorry this thinking "assumes" the window clerks are not doing their jobs already, but that's their perception. Its a sad attempt to get window clerks to push sales.

So? for example. Once clerk "A" sells an unusual amount of stamps at opening. PM can go into SAA and change hours of clerks on windows that day.
So instead of clerk "A" working 8 hours on window he now worked only one.
The rest of the retail business that day will go to the other clerks proportionately by hours designated by PM. Clerk "A" remained on window 8 hours, but only got credit for one hour. But Clerk "A" met his goal for the day.
PM now looks like he has done an excellent job of scheduling. Clerk "A" made goal, and odds are other clerks too as they get the other seven hours of clerk "A" didn't have allocated on SAA for him. Office is looking great and nothing really has changed.
Not to mention your office shows up on the top 10 list for SAA increased revenue and so PM looks like they've really done something. Nothing has changed, its tweaking the numbers.
Presently SAA program allows you to go back and change history too.

Presently this is a PM aggravation. It is just another requirement the PM doesn't even want to do. If any evaluating is going on, it is with the PM's and their ability to schedule.
