we don't get commission on walk in revenue amounts, so what difference does it make who inputs this stuff? really.... get a grip.

by the way... in my office, noone WANTS to enter the box payments or other things, so I always do it. does that mean I get to be the 'pet'? hahahaha

In my office, all rural carriers stamps orders and post office box rentals are given to one "pet" employee. These inflate his walk in revenue for the day. He is also told to enter "stamps by fax" orders (which are generally high dollar items) as over the counter sales which again inflates his walk in revenue totals. His mom recently retired as an administrative secretary at a large local post office. Our supervisor allows this, because she wants to be in the click.

Basically you log in and post hours a clerk works on window. The $$ figures are automatically plugged into program so you have goal and actual numbers for the entire office. Nothing new always had these. It is set up on monthly basis.
So if the goal for that day is $2000, then it is proportionately spread amongst all on the window.
Honestly don't see how it could be used as individual discipline as just the mere fact that those scheduled at certain times of the day would and could get better revenue numbers then those scheduled at less busier times.
Right now it appears to be more of a tool for PM's to drive it home that they have goals to meet within each office.
Have to have PM's on board and from the reports I've seen for our district, most are attempting to ignore using the program.

Does anyone have any info on the new "SSA" program? It looks like another way to see if the window clerks are pulling their weight in revenue. I read that it was a "tool" to use to see daily revenue earned. I wonder how long it will be before it is a "tool" for discipline!

new wos report "Product Sales per Retail Unit" that runs in the Enterprise Data warehouse (EDW) on the ace computers by supervisors shows what you do evey second of the day you are logged into your pos terminal. report may not be new, but mgmt is finally aware of it & using it for discipline.

Greetings USPS Folks,

I posted this 2009 "Postal Calendar" link several weeks ago. But I have recently had a few folks ask for the web address again. Therefore I thought I would post the information one last time in case anyone here would be interested.

For the past several years I have designed my own yearly calendar because I just can’t find a preprinted one like I prefer. I just want the entire year on one 8.5 x 11 inch page, no fancy pictures etc. This way I can tell what is going on at a glance for the complete year.

I, of course, marked the holidays and paydays on the calendar. Oh yes, above the Friday column I have indicated the pay period number for the paydays that month.

The past few years I passed these along to others in the office that were interested. To my surprise, many more were interested. So, to help make my efforts available to more folks I have uploaded a copy of the current year calendar to my server storage area.

The link below should give you access to the calendar - you should be able to download it to your drive or just print it from your browser. If you have any problem with the transfer please let me know.

Enjoy !

paying particular attention to a stranger of middle eastern descent does not make you a bigot, if your diligence does not stop there.

Absolutely not. Islamic muslim terrorist in America can be found in all colors and race. Didn't you watch the riots in this country and the UK, when Isreal finally stuck back at Hamas When they have such a surge in women terrorists hiding bombs under their robes, well, a man in a robe, is in this country is more out of place.
yeah, the middle eastern terrorist thing is bombs in planes, hijacking planes, and running them into building, when they can't chop heads off.

I hoped the other clerk asked all the questions, especially if the items were potentially hazardous. That would surely stop some radical Islamic terrorists dead in their tracks, so to speak. There are very few muslims in the USA who would even consider putting explosives in the mail, or even sympathize with those that would commit such a terrible act. Almost all instances of domestic terrorism in this country, for well over a century, have been perpetrated by white "Christians", born right here in the good old USA. Of course we should be on alert for any bizarre behavior or actions by any individual, and paying particular attention to a stranger of middle eastern descent does not make you a bigot, if your diligence does not stop there.

You can not give anyone someones address, even if they say they are the FBI, the Postal Inspectors have first juridiction. Also, one must have a legal document showing the docket number or court case number. Got it!
Also our Post Office Express is closing this Tuesday. The 3 clerks are very saddened by this occasion. Albertsons closed. We were open today and collections did not even pick up our mail. I contacted my union (last week) and the new president never got the message and did nothing about it.

just a good clerk/.."see an EAP counselor.." ???? No way. I suggest postal employee's not use the PO EAP. The manager needs EAP, not me. I didn't get angry and slap mail around.

thanks. I get it. The register will automatically, catch and bill the account holder, and not show up the customer's account. It's just there were some attired muslim's mailing stuff, and bizarre acting, in another line, and this only added, to doing things correctly, and my defiance the sup stop, did no good. The presistance was to bizarre as the muslim had a large mailing, but I was too busy watching the one waiting on him, with this unusual electronic device he had in his hand which was not a cell phone. Things happened too fast, and this never should have occured with the unsealed mail interupting another customer's account. Was concerned about the customer's account and information being on same reciept.

Wrong or Right,

If anyone (FBI or otherwise) wants info on a customer, go get the supervisor, manager or postmaster.

You need to contact your union and file a grievance over the manager's behavior. And you should also call the postal inspectors and see an EAP counselor.

As stated here by me and others, the corporate account number (EMCA) will charge the postage to the account holder. If the mailing is not theirs, they will contact the express mail personnel.

Good luck. This job is stressful enough without adding an a-hole manager to the mix.

not understanding/if an FBI agent walked up to you at the window, asked for a patron's address, or account information, would you give it?
Should the records show one customers account used another's account at the same time.

As far as telling the mgr not to interupt me, it turned into a big scene when I repeatedly said to stop. Envelope was opened and not sealed, and thought it might be mgr.s mail. Mgr. aggressively, starting throwing mail down, and, I started crying. All the customers saw this. I was and still shaken.

If that would have happened to me, I would have told the supervisor (in FRONT) of my customer that I was in the middle of a transaction and I would take care of it when I was finished.

Exactly. Big smile & "just a moment, please". That should take care of it.

the whole "sanctionity" thing here. how is it a breach of sanctity of the mail? or a "federal crime"

if I am getting this right... the supervisor cut into a customer transaction and made you "ring up" an express mail on that customers transaction. RUDE, maybe but not a federal crime. you asked who paid for the express.... the account number you entered will pay for it.
you did keep the finace copy of the express label, right? the only thing the unsuspecting customer has is the register receipt.... although the transaction will have the info on it. they probably wouldn't even know what it is unless you told them.

If that would have happened to me, I would have told the supervisor (in FRONT) of my customer that I was in the middle of a transaction and I would take care of it when I was finished.

Tex,thank you so much. The sanctionity of the mail sould be our priority. It also is for the security and safety of not only the USPS, but America.
Go by the book. This was a federal crime as far as I'm concerned. Thanks so much.
