Also, when the rates change on May 12, there will be a small discount for all Priority and Express postage printed & paid online. And Click-n-Ship will no long print labels only, will have to be paid for online beginning then. If customers want to print labels only & not purchase online, they will need to download Shipping Assistant.

There were two sizes of flat rate box (O-FRB1 and O-FRB2) that both shipped US for $8.95 each. In March, we introduced the new Large flat rate box, which is 50% larger than the "old" boxes, and ships US for $12.95 each, or $10.95 to an APO/FPO address. Like Just a GOOD Clerk said, the rates are different for international. Check the IMM at usps.com for International rates.

A flat-rate box to a domestic address will be a different price than a flat-rate box to Canada or England. Also, there are different sizes. Plus, there is a discount to APO/FPO addresses.

OK, I've got a question for you window clerks. I stopped to pick up the mail at my PO Box yesterday, and happened to notice the display on the counter about the priority mail "flat rate" boxes. The sign says, "If it fits, it ships" and "Flat Rate." But when it quotes the rates, it says "$8.95 and up", and "$12.95 and up."

What's the deal, as I rarely mail anything other than documents for grievance files, I don't use these packages.

Do the pricves vary? Or, are they truly, "Flat rate"?

Just curious if management is misleading the public again.

No actually headquarters wants to get rid of them. They call it an easement or some legal term. We hear complaints of the contract stations too, some of them have closed down because of incompentence, etc. It will be 13 years in October, that we have been opened. One Post Office Express did close, because the grocery store closed; due to the fact that A Super Wal-Mart opened across the street. . I think a contract signing is due, come October. but not sure. Have a nice Easter ---all of you out there!!!

Interesting, I never knew. About the only thing we have beyond the normal Post Office is contract Post offices. They are not known for great service (in our area) as I will hear complaints from customers.

I'd have to agree, if it works with no overhead, then I could see the Post office wanting to do more of those.

yes Bluze u r correct and it aint much for a 7 day operation. we have no overhead free rent reasoning behind it once u step into the post office u are on federal property that way if u fall you can only sue one company. and it is nice without a supervisor behind your back Also remember HQ doesnt care about revenue they care about transactions so make sure you hit the non rev key and then end of visit after each question or whatever. They also dont play music in the stores we provide our own. However you will hear this "customer service in baby formula" etc.

I think she meant 22K, which is not that much for a 7 day operation. We're open 5 1/2 days per week, with a walk-n of over 40K every week, some weeks over 50K, not counting the APC and click & ship revenue. Of course we have more window clerks soaking up pay and benefits, plus overhead for our buildng. I would guess the USPS comes out ahead more so with the Postal Express concept, but I hope I never end up working at one. The music they play in these stores would drive me up the wall and the girls in the store office constantly calling for help up front or making some announcement is just as bad. Why do they have to speak so loudly with that high pitched nasally tone? Reminds me of a young Lillie Tomlin playing a telephone operator, except worse.

Southern Clerk: There are 7 of them in Las Vegas, located in the Albertsons/Luckys' Store. Our revenue this week was 22. They have been around for almost 13 years. Real PO Clerks. The customers would storm the doors down if they closed us. Eight years ago, the po wanted to close us and the customers wrote and called and wrote and called to keep us open. I remember years ago the line during Christmas went all the way to the back of the store. Happy Holidays to all.

susie, i'm afraid if you complain about the "safety hazard" you work at, district might shut you down. it probably costs more to pay your salary than you make in revenue. and do get your sugar under control. best of luck to you on all counts.

Susie,if your sugar is near 400,you must get that under control. You have no business at work.Use FMLA and get the right med's and/or insulin going to help you regulate your blood sugar. You are no good to yourself or anyone else if you have a massive stroke or heart attack or even worse die.

Never heard of a "Post Office Express". I just assumed that we had gotten away from the Mom and Pop stores with the Post office inside. Well, not really get rid of them, but that they were contract offices now.
Where are you located? Are there more then one set up like this?
