I would like to ask the same question that I have seen on here a couple of times. Does anyone have information on printing the IMB on a Winkjet?

I have a client who has used their Heidelberg 9110 printer in the past to merge a variable data print stream generated from MS Access with a static form overlay created in Word.

They've done this for an annual job the last several years, but the only person who knew the procedure has left the company and is unavailable.

Anyone have some tips that will help out this small service bureau? If so, please contact me by EMAIL: mporter@printmailconsultants.com

Thanks!

New member here and i am having a problem with IMB on KirkRudy Winkjet using "Winkmate Ver 3(rev3.1a)"

I've downloaded and installed the USPS4CB.ttf font and I can see the barcode on the screen in the layout, but when I print it, there is no barcode. I am using a 65 byte string and I have set the font to 16pt.

What else do I need to do to get this software to print the new barcode?

Please help!

Chris,

Are you feeding the font the 65 byte encoded barcode string? Also, be sure to print the font at 16 point to pass postal regulations for size.

I have seen discussion on here prior that printing the intelligent mail barcode with Kirk Rudy's Winkjet was possible. My question to you all is... how? I install the truetype font downloaded from the "ribbs" website to my pc, the font shows on the screen in my layout (Winkmate version 3 rev. 3.1), but will not print on the piece? What gives? Thanks in advance!

Neopost Inserter Folder Parts Supplier Needed.

We are a Medium Size Mailing Business and after the experience with the Neopost Service Techs incompetence we have decided to handle all our own repairs, just like we did in the 90s. The problem is we can not find a parts dealer.

We are looking for a Parts Supplier for one of our older Neopost SI68 machines ( service manual, gears, belts rollers etc ).
Thanks

Folks,

I am looking for feedback on how others are providing proofs to their clients for variable data print jobs.

Currently, the majority of our jobs are proofed LIVE on our lasers (we use OCE and Canon lasers). When forms are available, data processing is notified and a live proof is pulled. The proof is then forwarded to the account manager (after proofing); the account manager either scans the proofs and forwards to the client, or forwards the live forms to the client.

We can also pull PDF proofs utilizing overlays of the printed form. This is not our usual route, because it requires more time and does not give our account managers a live proof that allows them to check for window position and creation of a trim sample for our lettershop. We are being pushed by our sales staff to provide these types of proofs on all of our jobs. I am wondering what others are doing in regards to proofing VDP. I would very much appreciate your feedback.

-ng

P.S. We utilize Mirus' MaxPrint letter writing software. I you use this software, I would appreciate a direct email so I can discuss this further with you.

Hi Nick,
I'd be happy to help anyone with the logistics of Roll-to-Roll. I founded Roll Systems (RSI), and spent 15 years pioneering Roll-to-Everything. I sold my interest 5 years ago and have no interest in the company. I have designed a new high volume mail inserter and related products. My interest in inserters came out of my surprise at how often inserters stop. See: BuckAutomation.com

Feedback On Using Roll To Roll

Would like to hear from anyone who is using roll-to-roll on their lasers. Also roll-to-fold if you are using. We are considering moving our lasers from stack-to-stack, and would appreciate your input. Please comment on which system you are using and any problems that you have encountered. We are evaluating Roll Systems and ESP. The jobs in our shop vary from a few thousand pieces per client into the hundreds of thousands. My concern is how our programmers are going to pull proofs (time to move roll paper to machine, then take down), and switching from the small jobs to the big jobs. We currently have four OCE PageStream lasers.

Thanks for your input.

It depends on what you mean by a presort bureau? A mailhouse using presort software such as Postalsoft or Anchor can be considered a presort bureau. Or are you refer to the presorting using OCR machines? OCR machines are very expensive and you have to have consistent volume to make a profit.

Folks, this postage meter situation is getting ridiculous!

My Hasler dealer is trying to get me to upgrade almost TWO YEARS before I have to. They tell me if I don't they'll cancel my maintenance agreement. They tried to get me to spend $581 a month PER METER BASE, PLUS another $110 a month per meter for the next 63 months! That's $43,533!!!

That's four times more than I spent on the freakin' inserter it goes on!

That's more than I'd have to spend for a brand new Cadillac!

I have 3 meters in my little shop - and they want $130,599 over the next 5 years to replace them! Hell I could buy a vacation home for that!

Folks - this is getting unbelievably ridiculous and out of hand. I'll tell you what I'm going to do - I'm going to buy some used bases for chump change and sit on them. Then if I have one go down I'll just move the head. I'm NOT going to do anything on this until the end of 2008, and when I do you can bet I'm not going to be paying that kind of money.

Want to hear something really unbelievable? I did a search on Google and found a Hassler Government price list. It looked to me like they had the same meters on there for like 12 grand. These guys are every bit as bad as Pitney ever was.

Ascom/ Neopost also has a new meter that will go on the end of inserters. I know of a site that has the ascom printing two postage categories on the fly with the machine cycling above 7k. It took the place of two R150 meters. This is a totally new design not anything like the old ascoms with the clutch problems and the meter head getting stuck.
The new meter is around $11K; don’t know the cost of the ink

Pitney Bowes is offering the 900 meter head as a temporary fix for the 2006 decertification of the heads for the 6100’s and R150’s, most of the people I have spoke to have been quoted $2500 and this head is only good until the 1st of 2008.

What would you attribute this to?
1. I know a lot of people are waiting to see if something will come out before the ended of the year due to the $20k cost of the Infinity, which is not the main cost, the ink and service contracts is what will kill you.
2. Not enough Infinity’s to meet demand?
3. Or my thought is there is a problem with the Infinity’s and this buys them sometime to fix any issues.

What do you think?
Also if you know of any problems with the infinity’s let me know.

NG,

I have used both of these systems on OCE' pagestreams and OCE' duplexes, I would go with the ESP system, it is a much more efficient design and less maintenance. They do have a few drifting problems, but if maintained properly this is not an issue.

Feedback Needed on Roll-To-Roll for OCE

I would like to get feedback from anyone using Roll-To-Roll on a continuous laser. We are looking at both Roll Systems and ESP. My concern is quality control, would we not be better off to go Roll-To-Fold instead? Your comments appreciated.

You do not need a permit, you can use the one that the mailhouse has; unless you are a non-profit.

Has anyone had problems on the Canon 105 trying to duplex using
Jetletter 6.0, JL22W vers 2.20? The 105 is collating/batching in
groups of 5, holding that batch, then apperaing to staple(no staples
were set up for the job, and none were actually used). These two
actions slow the printing to 6 sheets per minute(or 12ppm).

After a few tests, I am getting 48ppm on tray 2, and 12ppm on tray
1, using the same job setting and number of pages. Jetletter printer
is Generic PCL 5e Printer (PJL) and tray feed is No Feed Control.

Are there any seeting I need to adjust or create to add in the Canon
105? Do I need anything from Canon tech support or Jetletter support?

Hi,

My name is Elena Boughey. I’ve been working in the direct mail industry for over 15 years in data processing. Most of it has been done in Foxpro although I am also quite adept in SQL and Access.

I am currently doing data work remotely for several direct mail companies in an overflow capacity or for a set numbers of hours per month. All work is kept confidential. Check my website for full pricing:

www.collectivestrategies.com/pricing.htm

If you need someone immediately or need someone to streamline processes and write user interfaces, please contact me via email at eboughey@gmail.com to discuss in further detail. I think you will find I am quite versatile and my skill set is extensive in the industry.

My experience includes: USPS regulations for NCOAlink & CONFIRM / Automotive Dealer Downloads (ADP and R&R) / GUI Interfaces for streamlining processes / SQL Database Maintenance / DTS Packages and stored procedures / Documentation

Regards,

Elena Boughey

Most of the jobs that we do require name parsing, due to the personalized nature of the mailing pieces. Most presort packages will parse the name data for you.

Does anyone have a good way to track production by employee and machine? We currently have operators manually fill out daily production sheets. I have entered these into spreadsheets, but I have not been able to get
good reports on average timings etc. I would like to be able to get percentages +/- of set production standards per operator. Any input would be appreciated.

Postalsoft, Anchor Software or BCC Software?

We are evaluating all three of the above software packages. I would appreciate receiving everyone's feedback. Which package do you use and how do you like it? If you've used one and switched, why?
