I really like iTunes - I think it's great that the Mac OS comes with such an easy, compatible solution to managing digital music. I think it says something that Apple kept the MP3 capabilities too, even with the addition of iTMS and AAC. Something else that is great, IMO, is that the "FairPlay" system only applies to purchased music - any MP3s or M4As we produced on our own, are not locked or controlled in any way. Contrast this with Microsoft - the default on at least two Windows machines I've seen is to encode music in WMA audio, with a key that locks it to the original computer it was encoded on. Granted it can be turned off, but I don't like the default assumption being that you want to be "locked in" to MS products with your whole music collection.
