The Sony DCR-TRV19 camcorder is not listed by apple as compatible with Imovie. My IMAC won't recognize it. giving a "No camera connected" message. Is there any easy patch to make the DCR-TRV19 work with Imovie? Or am I off to ebay to sell the Sony?

Thanks for the post, Stefan. I know some folks hate the Dock. I am jsut not one of those who is worked up enough about the Dock to go to the work to remove it. That being said, LaunchBar is a very cool program and just the thing for excellent keyboard access to programs and files!

This is marginally off-topic, but I have to say that no iApp lives on my Dock, because *no* apps live on my doc. You see, I use Launchbar, and I now use my dock as a quick means of knowing which apps are open. No need to keep anything on the dock permanently. If you used LaunchBar, you'd know...

When I look back, its interesting what I use and not use: Mail: I've been a fan of NeXT Mail for more than a decade Safari: has replaced OmniWeb as my default browser (sorry, Wil) iTunes: nearly every day to load my iPod and to listen to net radio Keynote: 1-2 presentations per week. Haven't run PowerPoint in months. AddressBook: used more than I thought I would (2-3 x per week) iChat: I like it, but use Fire because all my buddies are on Yahoo, not AIM iPhoto: Rocks, but insists on importing a photoCD's worth of pictures, rather than just displaying them. iCal/iSync: no excuse for not using them, but I don't iMovie, iDVD: Sorry, no DV camera or DVD burner AppleWorks: Waiting for it to stop looking/behaving like a Classic app Edited 05-28-2003 11:43 PM

Nothing is better than iMovie, 10 years ago it would have cast into the tens of thousands of dollars to manipulate video on a level equal to iMovie, now anyone can do it.

I really like iTunes - I think it's great that the Mac OS comes with such an easy, compatible solution to managing digital music. I think it says something that Apple kept the MP3 capabilities too, even with the addition of iTMS and AAC. Something else that is great, IMO, is that the "FairPlay" system only applies to purchased music - any MP3s or M4As we produced on our own, are not locked or controlled in any way. Contrast this with Microsoft - the default on at least two Windows machines I've seen is to encode music in WMA audio, with a key that locks it to the original computer it was encoded on. Granted it can be turned off, but I don't like the default assumption being that you want to be "locked in" to MS products with your whole music collection.

iTunes and iSync. Mail would be right up there if it were called iMail. I think there are better alternatives for the others or they lack the more advanced features that I use. For video I use FCP and for photos I prefer iView Media Pro.

It is without a doubt, iTunes. I remember staying up way past midnight the night it came out playing with it. And it has only gotten better in OS X. I made my wife come down from her bed and see it. Needless to say, she was not amused at me waking her up for a computer program.
Some Unix users are actually coming over to OS X because of iTunes now. Talked to one shortly ago.

The only one I use everyday is iTunes but, since getting a miniDV camera, I'm starting to like iMovie a lot.

Yeah, Andy, I wonder how long it will be before Apple renames AppleWorks as iWork? Of course, they won't do this since to be an iApp the program would have to be free...
