Welcome, fellow gardening enthusiasts, or more likely friends and family who have read my posts because I asked you to. Heh! Say hello, share stories and advice.

Hello, Sandy!

I am writing an article on blogging for the American Orchid Society, and would like to make mention of your site, as well as quote a sentence or two from one of your posts in our monthly magazine... Would it be possible for you to e-mail me at: sjones(at)aos(dot)org?

Thank you!!

I found your site while searching for info on my Bartley Schwartz. I like Hank's responses too. You are an inspiration. I'm glad to find blogs about growing orchids and other plants!

I'm back! Guilty again! Yes, I have been following this story on the boards also. Thanks for posting pics of your orchids. Because of your site, I have checked out YouGrowGirl.com and surfed all day. Thanks for this blog. Do you know of any blogs that are devoted to orchids?

Hi Valencia -- I'm happy you're enjoying it!

My copy of Orchids magazine arrived today, and there's a great article on blogs (thanks for the very nice plug, Susan) in it. It refers to another blog that has mostly pictures: http://blogs.salon.com/0001330/categories/Orchids.

If you find any other ones, let me know!

Hi Sandy!

I know little about Stanhopeas, but I think the one in your picture is Stanhopea Wardii, see this link for example:

Do you think someone should write an article for Orchids magazine about blogs and blogging? If every orchid aficionado had one to "show" their pictures it would be fantastic, no? Or am I crazy?

Keep on blogging and orchidying, when we solve our political problems I will devote more time to the Orchid part of my blog.

Best

Miguel

Miguel, how nice to hear from you! I was just looking through your blog last and enjoying the gorgeous photos. You have a wonderful collection, and your greenhouse --- wow!

Thanks for the tip on the stanhopea, you know, I think you're right. It does look just like the picture.

Yes, I definitely think we need more orchid blogs. Maybe the article in this month's magazine will encourage more people to do it -- it's so easy, and fun.

Best of luck on making your country better, Miguel, it is truly honourable work!

I agree with Miguel! The color is magnificient. How nice...from spike to bloom in two weeks! Sorry about the cattleya...he really didn't mean it. I hear about John all the time on the boards. I am not privy to a variety of orchids. Just phals and dendros...

I just wanted to let you know that I listed your blog on mine. I don't have pictures yet, but maybe after the holidays, I will have the ability to post pics. I can't wait!

I have a picture in my blog at this link:

http://blogs.salon.com/0001330/categories/...003/04/26.html#a786

of a Grammatophylum. The labels says it is Elegans, but someone wrote to me asking if it is not Marthae. Could you ask your friends if they know? Thanks

Hey Sandy,

I have a question for you. How long did it take for the buds on your cattleya to bloom? I ask this because I now have an Epilaeliocattleya that has four buds. They seem healthy, thick and green. I should just ignore it and be pleasantly surprised but I just can't. Does it take months?I'm new to catts. You know that I am extremely appreciative!

Thanks,
Valencia

Hiya Valencia

I bought that beautiful portia in bloom, so I can't say for sure. I do have a couple of other catts with sheaths, I'm told to expect blooms in a month or two. Hang on there, girl!! It's like water, it won't boil if you stand there and watch it ;-)

Hey Miguel, I couldn't get the link to work. I went to your site (**gorgeous**), and couldn't find the picture either. Would you please email pictures to me, from a few different angles? I'll pass them on to my friend and see if he can help identify the plant.

Cheers

Sandy

Your catts have sheaths; mine don't. Leave it to me to buy something different! I like your latest additions to your floral family. Your oncidium (yellow) is cute! Mine blooms almost every hour. And your phrag..I have one too! It's wonderful...now if only the epicatt would do the same...oh well! One day I will post pictures.

John's going out of business sale is the talk of the boards amongst the Canadian crew! : ) I'm sorry to hear of his situation though.

I will try to not look at my orchids so that they can do their thing...(whom am I kidding?)
