It's a pleasant surprise to find a sanctury from all that modern inane garbage they call music.

After refreshing my memory, one obvious reason that Hydra has caught on is that it is a freeware solution for simply collaboration. iStorm offers more features, no doubt about that, but it also carries a $20 price tag. now if Hydra becomes a shareware program, as it rightly should to help pay off the work the developers have done on the program, then the two apps would be on more of an even footing...

Robert, I think Hydra has caught on because its simplicity - the fact that you fire it up and it simply works without much geeking around - appeals to the core of long-time Mac users who would rather work than study how to get something new to work...if that makes sense. That being said, I'll take another look at iStorm after your mention of it...

Some of us used it at MacHack to take notes on the Hack Contest, which Adam ended up posting to TidBits.

I was in it at the beginning, but after my hack I let a friend borrow my powerbook for his hack, after which it was screwed up for a while, so I really didn't participate :)

I'm not sure what the deal is with Hydra. iStorm seems a better collaboration app and there is another whose name is similar, both have been around longer than Hydra. Hydra doesn't seem to be a powerful enough editor in general for me to use regularly. I'm using JEdit for regular editing and iStorm for collaboration.
