It is not automatic. You need to write a letter to somebody in HR, or what is left of it, requesting to be put on the PER. It helps to have a copy of your test score, etc. I think it has to be done within 30 days after you start at your new office.

At least that was the system in 2005.

Does anyone know how long your request for reassignment can sit in the "in review" status?

/m1304 Yes, that link you posted is also a good one to use. I just decided to provide an alternate link for individuals to download from.

/m1308 Stringcatt, He's being sarcastic and it went right over your head....or through it.
It's a shot on the good old APWU where first is now last and tomorrow new guys will be senior. Unless they change their mind.

I had one sit for 6 months until HR/Personnel got around to doing their jobs. So the answer to your question is, "forever".

/m1303 According to my NBA, the PER test scorre does transfer but when I asked the Whom-ever he is guy, he said that they, the facility that I am at now, would have to request the score from the facility that I left leaving me with no score, three months after my transfer. BUT my NBA said.......

Yes, Stringcatt, I was being sarcastic, PoHater picked up on it perfectly. I really do not know the answer to your question, but I will caution you and everyone else to save a copy of each and every letter you get concerning testing, upgrades, notifications, etc. that have to do with Maintenance. I got this straight from a former MSS Coordinator who has since been "excessed"- They sometimes "lose" or otherwise mishandle paperwork, so don't assume that it is on file somewhere.

If i do get a score will i be ahead of the people who are under the new system? Or will i be in the same bracket as the people in the new system? thanks

PO man message 1316

read the rmss letters and all the other crap forthcoming from your Union, then try to figure it out yourself. in a few months or years when you think you have it down, it will be changed. retroactively, of course.

/m1316 Here's a joke...ask your supervisor!!!!
From the response here, it appears the answer to your first question is; no.

If you are a union member, you ask your intelligent, informed steward. He doesn't know? Well there must be someone he can call and get that answer in minutes and then immediately call you with the info. APWU ROCKS!!!!

Probably wait 3 years and sign up for the test again. By then the steward's and craft director's janitor friends will be promoted already.

I am getting ready to take the unproctored portion of the 955 exam. This is some information that I had asked about for the time limit on it given below:

You are about to take Examination 955E for Maintenance jobs with the U.S. Postal Service. This assessment takes approximately one hour to complete, although you may take more or less time. If you wish to begin the assessment now, click the 'Take Test Now' button below. If you wish to take the assessment later, you may log out now and return later. Once you begin the assessment, you will have 75 minutes to complete it.

If you exit the assessment part way through (voluntarily or involuntarily), you must return and finish no later than 36 hours after the time you began the assessment.

I wish everyone who takes the 955 exam the best of luck.
