You won't lose your career time, but you will lose your senority over anyone else in that craft. the good thing in the maintenance craft you start out as a full time regular not a PTF. I am not sure exactly the pay difference, but I did look it up once before and the level 4 custodians make more than the level 4 mailhandlers because the APWU negotiated it better than our union. If your a D, E, F or whatever, you will still be even when you crossover. I think it still takes about the same amount of time to reach the top of the pay scale. 12-14 yrs.?? I'm not sure.

I'm almost certain that you will retain your current salary after you crossed craft.Go here for the latest payscale:

I think you will be slotted with the step in level 4 which would be comparable to your current salary.

njheadedsouth-Your postal time is unaffected, your maintenance seniority will start at date of transfer i.e. bidding is time in craft and facility. Pay will be determined by the ELM (section 420 spells out rules for craft pay and transfer issues) found under postal handbook link on this site.

I'm an RCA in Northern Michigan and have been subbing on rural routes for 5 yrs and 8 months , been trying to get into maintenance, I've passed the 932 in Jan 08 and the 933 in Feb 03 and retook the 933 (which i passed in April 08) because the other 933 scores were out of date. I've requested that my scores be posted district wide, on all the hiring registers, Did this with certified mail with return receipt(I've learned the hard way when dealing with HR or any action taken with the Post Office, document EVERYTHING!!!!!!), and I have a panel review at the end of this month. Any suggestions on what to study up on, and with the 931 I'm taking soon any good sites or study guides available for this exam? Any useful suggestions would be greatly appreciated

take your KSA copies with you to review panel. take any other documentation with you to prove you can do what the KSA's say you can do. at the start of the interview shake hands with the panel and introduce yourself.

I work in the Southeast NewEngland District. I took the 931 exam in Providence, RI. in Nov. of 07. Still NO RESULTS! Providence is a Horror Show. Anybody else with similar experiences? They only take care of their own. If you work in Brockton Forget About It!!
Fustrated in Brockton, MA What can I do? The Pres. of our great Union won't respond either. What does that tell you?

Doug, Same thing happened here in Saint Louis. The mechanic ended up getting his job and almost a year of out of schedule pay. Sleeper.

/m1020 7 months is way too long! have you contacted the district office where there is a human resources generalist who can contact shared services and the test center. you can also file a grievance and you should.
