KJAZ & Jerry Dean listener for many years. When KJAZ left the air, I had no idea about
the Spirit of KJAZ.... just happened on it in the iTunes listings for Radio->Jazz- Spirit of KJAZ.

Then when Jerry couldn't keep up with the demands and passed away soon thereafter, I
thought : "How sad, in so many ways.... "

But it's been a pleasure to "rejoin" the listeners via the revived Spirit of KJAZ SF.

I've joined this list to be among those who might receive messages about supporting the
continuation of the broadcasts.

Let's not let the Spirit be lost.

Any Bay Area jazz fans interested in attending this event in Berkeley honoring Jerry Dean? I believe he will be officially inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame here:

I'll be there if I can. If they have name tags, look me up!

Hello Stan/Chris,
It is so great that KJAZ is still happening. The time some of us put into sharing our love to this great music is so important. Jazz seems to get shoved to the bottom of the barrel and sometimes forgotten. People like Jerry, Stan, Bob, and all of the people that refused to let KJAZ pass into the nothingness, I applaud and honor you. Thank you for your service and I know that all the musicians that play this music feel the same, for without people like you our work would go unnoticed.
Best regards,
David Leshare Watson, Jazz vocalist
P.S.
I have a new CD "Big Town" with Mickey Roker, Bob Cranshaw and Michael LeDonne, it can be viewed at www.musicinthevines.com.

Thanks Linda! I can remember listening to Kjaz in the 1980s when Stann Dunn had the 6to 9am time slot . Having my clock radio alarm set to KJAZ and Stan's humor and jazz programing was a little bit of Heaven for quite a few years. When it left the air in the 90s it was quite a shock to my system. That is why it is so wonderful to have it back now!

Thank you, Stan!!!! for responding, for elucidating so many pieces of "the mystery", for keeping the music alive, and especially, for founding The Spirit in the first place!!!
I (and I'm sure, all of us) look forward to your evolution of this fantastic stream, and thank-you to Chris for his involvement, too. As for ensuring the legacy's survival into the future -- please stay in touch through this site, Jerry's Guestbook, and the Yahoo address. So many supporters out there!
Bravo, Encore!

To all of you who have been discussing Jerry Dean and the KJAZ Spirit, I thank you. I'm Stan Dunn and I launched "The Spirit" back when I was working for Radio@AOL(Spinner.com). Jerry and Tim joined me once I got it running. Jerry took it all on himself a few years back and filled it with 800 hours of the best programming on the planet. I am still running Jerry's shows and they will always be the mainstay of the stream. I have added some new shows of my own and will add more as time goes by. I wil be operating the stream as a nonprofit endeavor and we will have a webpage to keep you updated. Chris Dunn, by the way, is my son. Chris worked at KJAZ for quite a while during it's last years. He is now a successful jazz recordingg producer for Concord Records and he will be helping his "old man" out with "The Spirit". As soon as all the "paperwork" is in place we'll be asking for support from listeners and underwriters. But most importantly, we'll be doing what Jerry Dean, Pat Henry and all the other KJAZ folks did, playing the best jazz music and continuing the legacy of the greatest Jazz Radio Station ever, KJAZ. Let's all stay in touch. I miss my buddy, Jerry Dean as much as you all do. Stan Dunn

To Gregg Niceley 9/24, 10/28, 12/1:
Yes, nice to hear Stan Dunn. I've not heard any "live" comments, but just sent a message to the email address; perhaps a response will appear on this page sometime? Ongoing mystery!

Thanks, Globalmusicwiz for Bay Area Radio Museum info. Maybe some news will emerge at/after the Berkeley awards ceremony on 12/12 . .

David Jackson from the Bay Area Radio Museum advises the following in the Gene Schram (Jerry Dean)Guestbook on November 8, 2007. "A quick note for everyone: the formal announcement won't be made for a few days, but Jerry Dean has officially been elected into the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame, and will be honored during our ceremony at the Doubletree Inn at the Berkeley Marina on December 12. More information at www.BroadcastLegends.com."

I was just introduced to Jerry Dean's unique, smooth, reassuring, calm, voice months before he died. I can't tell you how many CD's I have bought after being introduced to various jazz artist on Jerry's show. Jerry is irreplacable. So glad I am the benefactor of his countless hours of educating the world about wonderful jazz artist and their music.. So glad we can still hear jerry's voice forever. I offer my sorry to the family.
