received this from the spirit last week . They are back now!
Hey Jazz Folks,
The Spirit of KJAZ will be offline until Thursday October 9th. No problems, just a temporary shutdown. We'll be back asap.

Am I missing something? What in the world do these last 2 posts have to do with the spirit?

Thank goodness Google offers language translation, imperfect though it may be. A question we have been asked over the years is why we don't show artist and title information on a scroll. The reason is simple. All of Jerry's (and the occasional shows by others) are recorded directly from cd's or lp's. We play back all of our individual programs in total and not as a collection of individual mp3's. I have 800 hours of Jerry's programs that are rotated randomly. To convert each song to individual mp3's in order to provide a title scroll would be a massive undertaking.
When Charlie Parker died the phrase "Bird Lives" appeared as graffiti all over the world. In my world "Jerry Lives" 24 hours a day. I would have his programs playing constantly in my home even if The Spirit were to come to an end. Our listening audience is growing. Thanks for telling your friends and offering your comments. Stan

Parker, nice to see a new reference to "The Spirit". I've been "away" for awhile and so appreciate Jerry still being there when I come back. I even learn new things from the stuff I've heard many times before. I always thank him out loud when he says goodbye for the hour. It's the best!
Linda
PS Many thanks to "administrator" for removing all the extraneous messages.

'Hope all you KJAZ fans are doing well, still listening to "The Spirit"... funny, after perusing through the various Jazz stations, the Spirit is what stays on, it is comforting to listen to Jerry's voice and am always surprised as to how much I keep learning listening to him......

Jeez, jazz people are nice. Just read through all messages and got caught up on the KJAZ, Jerry Dean and Stan Dunn stories. Me, I'm in Montana and new to KJAZ. When I was a kid in St. Paul, I listened to Leigh Kamman's WLOL and KSTP jazz broadcasts on a bakelite earphone under my pillow. I understand the comfort that comes when an old and familiar voice takes our kind of music seriously. The spirit is right. Keep it coming.
