Old Grey Frogs have many sources of inspiration. This time it is a book called Falling Up by Shel Silverstein. I hadn't ever read it...too busy with teenagers I guess. He published it in 1996 during the heart of our teen crisis'. I'm going to have to go back and read Light in the Attic and End of the Sidewalk again (I was going to continue with, "now that things have settled down" but I'm not sure if things ever really "settle down". I strive for a "glass half full" attitude but am often slam-dunked with a glass half empty and draining fast reality). Lots of Silverstein's stuff has below the surface interest which I never had or took the time to see before.

THE GNOME, THE GNAT, AND THE GNU
I saw an ol' gnome Take a gknock at a gnat Who was gnibbling the gnose of his gnu. I said, "Gnasty gnome, Gnow, stop doing that. That gnat ain't done gnothing to you."
He gnodded his gnarled ol' head and said, "'Til gnow I gnever gnew That gknocking a gnat In the gnoodle like that Was gnot a gnice thing to do."

Well, the jig may be up, but the game's afoot! Watch your step in the woods, dear...

Oops- The wife IS the wiser! What - do you think I don't stumble onto your Blog to see what you're up to on occasion? I can't believe that you bought this creature in the first place and now you plan to HIDE him in the woods? With any luck, he'll stay hidden! I'm sorry, I can't get into gnomes as garden accessories, and the manufacturer of this particular gnome must feel the same way. At least that's how I see it. Have fun, Dear Husband! Becky
