Can't argue with that, trucker's wife. He's right. The APWU, in all it's wisdom, has been signing up HCR drivers for over 10 years now. Thank the Clerk Craft, the Maintenance Craft, and a bunch of misguided MVS members at the Nat'l. convention for that backstabbing. Why do you think the APWU doesn't give a crap as our MVS Craft is slowly but surely being eliminated, soon to be history, just like the Special Delivery Craft? They've been signing up our replacements for years. Dues money is dues money, no matter where it comes from.......

GUESS MVS IS BEHIND THE EIGHT BALL

Spotterron you hit the nail on the head when a portion of we MVS employees fought agianst organizing the hcr drivers we were right! The Clerk Craft and Maint all were miss informed! The APWU has spent millions to organize the few and the babbling idot at the helm said he would continue to do just that!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wonder how he feels about Obama now that the APWU backed him. Burrus did it just for the history books!

To the HCR driver, you don't know shit. I have gone out to many of your accidents that were horrific in nature, watched one driver being scraped off the highway estimated speed was over 100 mph!!!. A lot of these accidents were from lack of sleep so I don't believe your shit about being home with your whore!!! HCR's suck the jobs from all of us. Just wait until the Mexican truck drivers start coming in and you will be whining about them taking your jobs. I have even seen HCR's taking fuel out of their trucks tank and put it into their own vehicle did the inspectors do anything? hell no!!!

HCR's suck. Eagle Express in Columbus Ohio have had 2 Roll aways. We get fired for this..NOT HCR's. Our retired Fag sucked %&^& with hcr's. We got shit on. F-all hcr's and all scum bags in organizing. These people need to be banned from the APWU. They organize the piece of shits that replace us. Maybe they need to be replaced by HCR's and then see how they feel about hcr's in the union. I voted against organizing hcr's and feel the same today. I am glad I retired. Talking to the drivers in Columbus, they like the money that they get from being a Mailhandler. They would rather be drivers than mailhandlers. Get rid of all in DC . Next election is your time to take a stand.

re:925- Pissed. I work at the NDC. We only take the spotters out on short trips. One of those audit teams took out our three over the road tractors because we weren't putting on any miles. The HCR contract I was referring to is local but, is too far for the spotters so the craft director said, "No go," on the bidding. I asked him about having the P&DC bid on it, but again he declined to even pass the word on to the craft director over there. Another line haul HCR dropped out of sight a week or two ago, Multi-Group, they were out of Chicago. Too bad, they had some of the best equipment of the bunch, new trailers too. Their trips got picked up by a long time HCR, Alan Richey.

What a mess the St Louis VMF ha s become! Six Techs and just under 1000 vehicles have been moved. The VMF manager is promoting lead techs. with very little experience and senority. They are idividuals that he can play like a puppet. The manager is doing what he pleases with total disregard to the contract. Has anyone got a clue how the point system for lead techs is supposed to work? One of the supervisors reported that the people figuring the points did not know how to add so the manager had to correct the scores. What a joke! All of the people promoted are very junior individuals. Does seniority and experience have no bearing on promotions in the VMF? We have been hearing about a 20% reduction in force. Now the latest is 40%. Does seniority have any weight here? It does appear that hte VMF is being set-up for total failure. This makes since if the Post Office is going to contract all vehicle repairs. Where is the strong union influence in the Post Office? Has this also been broken? What other action is it going to take?

VMFs are the only installations authorized to hire from the street, sounds like you guys in St. Louis need to push for that to happen and fill those vacancies if the Ereassign has been exausted.

St. Louis, EEO on those lead tech jobs, you can prove that the senior guys are the BEST QUALIFIED!!!

In the north east we have 20 guys that bench tested. But unfortunately there is a hiring freeze. We are not hiring from the street at all. What is a point system for the vmf's? I've never heard of it. How can someone be promoted when they need to bid for a position?

EEO sounds like a good idea. The point system that Ted Nappier in St Louis used is to score the Lead Tech. Applicants. Then he used the highest score for the first bidder on seven positions. It is a real circus. If the St louis local would have agreed on a rebid for all positions along with the closure of the two aux. vmfs the senior guys would not have been drafted into the least desirable positions. The mess in St Louis is exactly what causes so many labor problems in the Post Office. These situations cause a large percent of the Post office's low moral and lack of pride in our jobs. It can all be blamed on poor managers and bad decissions on their part.

To #944 (How can someone be promoted when they need to bid for a position?)You do not bid for a promotion, you apply for promotion w/991 and all your KSAs filled out. A bid is for someone who is already titled in that position(senior qualified). The lead automotive tech position goes to best qualified within the MVS craft(2007 JCIM, page 265 #12). FYI there is a ccmail/email that went out about filling those vacant positions from Carol Stream, IL. I'll look for it and tell ya what is said.

To #945 your guys could have bid, under protest, to ensure senority, then file a out of schedule pay grievance.

We were told by our local craft director very clearly do not bid. I questioned it at that time but the majority decided this was the way to go. The people that did bid were the junior people that are now on preferred jobs. Some of the senior people are still unassigned regulars. The out of schedule grievance has been mentioned but no action has been taken. The vmf manager Ted Nappier has said he is going to refuse a rebid. There has not been a complete rebid since the tech upgrades that management did 8or 9 years ago. As far as I know The VMF can be rebid every year if agreed by both parties and can be insisted on every two years if requested. Does this take a majority to do or just the union requesting it? The junior Techs have a petition going around to not rebid. One of the people behind it is a shop steward. The craft director is supposed to do something to stop it but has not yet. I would sure be curious what the national union craft director has to say about it. Ted Nappier is just the acting VMF manager it will be real funny if this all falls apart and the local management sees him for what he is. We have gone from current on scheduled maintenance to behind in just three short weeks. It is not due to people not working it is due to the disorganization of the shop and lack of good management. The next step will be contracting out of services. The manager is already telling the stations to get and use contractors where they have never been needed or used yet.

To Post#946, At the Providence VMF, Any Best Qualified Position, not just Lead Tech does not always go to the Best Qualified Employees, Management picks who they want in whatever Position weather you are Qualified or not. 991's and KSA'S mean absolutely nothing here, Best Qualified should have never been allowed to ever happen, Favoritism Rules. We have had one or two Auto Techs here that should have been Promoted to Lead Techs Lose out to Less Qualified Employees due to Best Qualified being allowed to happen. Best of Luck and Happy Thanksgiving to All.

To post 946, I can't wait to see what Carol Stream wrote. Thanks. It sounds like 20 year got some bad advice! Not a good deal when your craft director and your steward is giving you bad info! I would push for the shop re-bid! We had our first re-bid in about 18yrs last year. Now it should be done every 2. Providing there can be movement. And Loser is absolutly correct, there are people in the wrong positions and it is all due to favoritism! It sucks but there is not much you can do about it. Keep fighting people, its all we can do!
