Actually mechanic the overriding questions here are, if your facts are right, are WTF is the Union doing about this. Seems pretty egregious to me. The other employees raising any hell about it also or just sitting on their asses bitching, which is a way too common occurrence in most crafts.

This is the prevailing wage for Service Contract Act contracts that is what the postal contracts including HCR fall under the SCA and these numbers are from the SCA wage determination for Los Angeles it is different depending where the contract is located.

To Ace, most people just bitch, I agree. The union isn't doing much. But thank you trucker for your input also, for Motor vehicle mechanic it is $18.37/ Motor vehicle helper is $15.02/ and Motor vehicle wrecker is $17.49. I have a copy of register of wage determination from the labor dept. Geezer is right, it does fall on deaf ears. But I think if we make enough waves, something will have to give. I'm sure that a couple of guys working for these contractors would love to know that they should be paid more and they should get paid holidays and vacation time. There are so many battles going on it's tough to fight them all! So thank you for your input, and I hope we can all help each other with good info and ways to hurt management in their effort to reduce us!

The only way to fight now is to go to a congressman. You need to understand that upper management doesn't give a shit, neither does the postal inspectors. Getting rid of the transformation plan should be the top priority right now, and the only way to do that would be to get this thru congress. From what I have read here very few people realize what the plan is all about.

You are the first person to ever mention this transformation plan. I never heard of it. But, what about it Mr Lacapria? We know you read this section, have you heard of it, and what can or should be done at this point? Is this transformation plan how they are getting rid of MVS? If its not too much to print, let it fly on this site. That way we can all be on the same page. Thanks!

I am a manager in the VMF. Postal employees are the reason for contractors. I pay for a wrecker service thats 24-7 and I don't worry about the job being done, they never call in sick, or take off. Most of the Mechanics in VMF's across the country are too slow, and lazy. They spend why too much time out shuttling vehicles, when they should be in house turning wrenches. Also, who do you think you are, like you are entitled to OT. I never give OT, and never will. Ot is not your rights. Wake up. Your all working at contracting out your own jobs with the high cost of you employee's. Too high sick leave percentages, and slow turn around times to name a few. Don't get pissed at the messenger. You all know that I'm telling the truth.

Me thinks VMF Manager is actually a disgruntled SCAB, and he should use the money he's saving by not paying union dues to buy a spell-check program to hide his ignorance.......

To all, maybe now is the time for people in the different VMF's to call the OIG's Hot Line and ask them about the Waste,Fraud, and Mis-Management that everyone believes is going on in their VMF's. We all know that the contractor's are ripping us off and like the Phoney VMF Manager says, these contractor's would be around 24/7 if the VMF's were open around the clock. The MVS Employee's are sick and tired of what's going on and are starting to speak up,however, now is the time for the others that are complaining to also get involved on the issues and stop letting other people do all the work while you enjoy all the perks that may come your way. Overtime is nice, but it's not just about overtime, these Manager's and Supervisor's are contracting so much work out the door that they are the ones responsible for a disgruntled work force. The USPS preaches a zero violence workplace policy and they are the ones that cause all these hostilities among their Employee's by allowing these contractor's to work seven days a week, and as many hours as they want while you get to go home after forty. Maybe the OIG will Investigate if these contractor's are in Violation of the State Labor Laws to see if they are paying their Employees Cash Under The Table After Forty Hours. It's very frustrating to see all this work day after day going out the door and I hope to see someone in Headquarters put a stop to all this Wasted Money going out the door. Good Luck To All.

To Mechanic the transformation plan is on the bluepage or google it. It is a very long drawn out plan. It was crafted by the secretary to the board of govenors and Potter is following it to the 'T'. The only way to stop this is to get a congressman to review it and put a bill in to stop and revert the damage it has caused. The transformation plan really is the privatization plan. Buried deep in the writings you will find a carefully written part on how to privatize MVS/VMF's. This has been going on since 2002.

Hey V M F Manager, it sounds like you have problems in your shop. But I think the biggest problem is YOU!!! You complain about the guys working but how about you. Do your effing job!!! Sounds like you are the LAZY one. And overtime is brought up because even at the O T rate, we (employees),save the post office money! I thought that the post office was in trouble! Maybe your VMF has unlimited funds! Oh yeah, thats that different budget we always hear about! Remember that if the VMF goes, so does your JOB! How does unemployment sound to you?

Have management change all vomas to auto techs, then the job is assigned to the MVS craft, and stop contactors because the techs are auth to do all the repairs.

What A Shame At Our VMF, Several Jobs Were Abolished Everyone Has S&S Off No Coverage From Fri 1130 Till Mon At 0600 One 25 Year Plus Had To Go Back On Nights So Management In Effect Forced Him To Retire Some Day Everyone Of Them Assholes Will Be Door Greeters At Walmart Remember You Don"t Need A Trade To Be Management
