I just arrived in Vienna, and would like to connect my own laptop to the Internet, from a cafe. Phils link to the list of Internet cafes was helpful. But I want to sip coffee under a wireless sky. Does anyone have a list or knowledge of hotspots in Vienna?

Hi Ethan, try this http://www.metronet.at/en/services/. You have to pay in advance and then find a place. I know that the Cafe Landtmann at the Ringstrasse right across the Burgtheater is a hotspot.

Just in case you're lost for ideas on what to do while you're in Vienna, I've compiled a list of things to do and places to eat. It's available on my website at http://www.aardvark.at/vienna.htmlYou'll also find a link to my site with public transport information there.

Thanks Martin and Thomas, I downloaded the map of hotspot and overlayed it onto a physical map of Vienna. Turns out most of the spots cluster. Then I went those places to find the hotspots. Found a few, all private. Most interesting was to note the city-space around the hotspots. Unis, shopping streets, various business centers mark the spots. In any case, FYI for those who have lots of data to download. Find a good internet cafe, the hotspots (and Metronet) are too slow. I suggest the place I'm writing from now: http://www.icworld.comAddress: Hedwiggasse 4, 1020 Wien 10:00-21:00

Any suggestions on good new media events in the city in the next week? Links to venues would be great. Underground events are good too. Thanks!
