i think u and katie have the same thing as me! sounds give me visuals of shapes. i dont no wut u mean by 'enlongated' shapes but i see colored shapes w/textures. i have the letter thing too but i cant feel sounds. ill text you zak and is there any way i can get in touch w/u katie?

I'm 14 and have several types of synaesthesia. Amongst them is the very common letter/numeral-color synesthesia (letters/numerals have color associations), the slightly rarer sound-touch (many sounds trigger feeling sensations, such as the styro-foam squeek feels like my back's been burnt recently), and the supposedly extremely rare sound-shape/texture/color (sounds produce enlongated colored shapes with distinct textures and transparency). I'm hailed as the class genius and research neurology in my spare time. I'll answer anybody's questions about my synaesthesia, since it may not be all that common.

i'm 22 and i'm reading "a mango-shaped space," and i guess that's kind of funny... but my best friend bought it for me bc she saw that it was about synesthesia. i learned i had it when i was about 15, but i kind of put it away since then. i went to college, traveled, was focusing on other things. now i'm interested in it again. i never really found out too much about it- only that like one in a couple thousand people has it and everyone has different types. i just see extremely vivid colors for each letter and number. the book is making me wonder whether i can awaken my senses by doing certain things and concentrating on my colors... i want to explore this and i'd love to meet some people i can identify with. i live in fort lauderdale. email me if you're interested in chatting: amnesia@ufl.edu.
