Dear Webmaster, I am trying to correct a mistake on Frederick Augustus Muhlenberg's biography, who was an Army officer and member of the House of Representatives from 1947-1949 and died in 1980. It states, "he was a great-great-grandson of Frederick Augustus Muhlenberg," the Speaker of the First and Thrid U. S. House of Representatives. He was really the great-great grandson of General John Peter Gabriel Muhlenberg, who was also in Congress. The General was Frederick A. C. Muhlenberg's brother. Frederick A. C. Muhlenberg has no living decendents. This effects all of their biographies. Frederick A. Muhlenberg who died in 1980 was my grandmother's brother. We have complete information and a complete genealogy. This must be corrected as I do presentations on the Muhlenberg family. and the bios. are not quite true. Please take care of this. Sincerely, Wplliam Muhlenberg Wagner Jr.

The political graveyard is a remarkable site.
Have you thought of trying to follow the ODP's model, and recruit qualified volunteers to help you supplement and maintain your database? There have to be people in academia who would find this project worthy of support.

Malinda, for that you need sources in Milwaukee. Probably the county parks department itself would be the place to start, as well as local history resources in the libraries there. If he was Superintendent of Parks, he most likely would be listed that way in the city directories of that time, both in his own alphabetical listing, and in the county government section (which might be at the front of the book, or might be alphabetized under "County" or "Milwaukee"). If you're not in Milwaukee, very old city directories can often be found in university or research libraries on microfilm or microfiche. Good luck!

All I can say is what an amazing opportunity.. When was the last time the country got a politician who wasn't self serving? Sure he's trying to make a spectacle, but why not? Our whole political system is a spectacle now. Think of it. A few decades ago, right-wingers were arguing that this country is a representative republic, not a democracy. With this recall shenanigan, they're essentially aiding & abetting so-called hippy radicals by bringing the vote directly to the people, and bypassing the middlemen. They should get what they deserve! Larry Flynt for Governor! - http://www.flyntforgovernor.org/Larry Flynt for PRESIDENT

At http://politicalgraveyard.com/geo/AZ/mormon.html the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is included in the listings as "Mormon." Of note, while the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (RLDS) church, while it did have the same beginnings as the original Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, it has not been affiliated with the Utah LDS church (to which the term "Mormon" is typically endeared). Also, the denomination's public name is now "Community of Christ" (though the name "Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" is retained for legal purposes). FYI

Malinda, I found this: In the early 1900s, Frederick C. Wulff, the first Superintendent of Horticulture for the park system, developed paths which served as the beginnings of the Seven Bridges Trail. Wulff planted many of the non-native trees found in the park. He lived with his family in the overnight lodge, grew nursery stock in what is now the Wil-O-Way area of the park, and raised pheasants and geese here. from this web site: http://www.countyparks.com/sports/7bridges.htmlJohn

Bush Nominee Conspired with Pedophiles and Traffickers in Children
Nominee for Ambassador to Thailand Should Withdraw
Thai Government Should Protest Nomination of former Charge d'Affaires, Ralph Boyce
Congress Should Reject Nomination
------------------------------------
The Bush Administration's nominee for ambassador to Thailand conspired with pedophiles and traffickers in children while charge d'affaires at the American Embassy in Thailand in the mid-1990's.
Ralph Leo ("Skip") Boyce, a career civil servant who is currently American ambassador to Indonesia, and two consular officials in Bangkok, Thailand, Christopher Richard and Thomas Patrick Furey, conspired with pedophiles and traffickers in women and children to traffic prostitutes and children to Europe and the United States and aided pedophiles and procurers in eluding the Thai police and escaping the country a decade ago.
In one glaring example of misconduct, in August 1995, Richard, who was chief of the American Citizen Services section of the American Embassy in Bangkok, conspired with pedophiles in Belgium, Thailand and United States to defraud the Thai government into trafficking a young Thai child to pedophiles in Belgium. Richard bribed and coerced Thai welfare, police and immigration officials to withdraw an official order to keep the child in Thailand. Thai officials had issued and enforced the order at the request of the child's American godfather. The child's mother, a Lao bar maid, was part of a criminal gang of pedophiles, pimps and prostitutes operating in the notorious Thai resort of Pattaya and in Antwerp, Belgium.
The child was procured to a pedophile and child trafficking gang in Belgium shortly afterward. His fate is unknown. Traffickers with Belgian and Thai officials of local government and "non-governmental organizations" ("NGO's") and international agencies have obstructed the family's efforts to trace the child.
Boyce ignored complaints about Richard's misconduct and warnings that the child was in peril. He ignored advice to alert the Thai government to the matter and urge it to recover the child. He passed the buck to Furey, who offered the run-around, gave misleading information and, eventually, boasted of his complicity with the Belgian pedophile ring in official correspondence.
Furey is presently "Minister-Counselor for Consular Affairs" at the American Embassy in London.
The source of several subsequent failed assassination attempts of the child's godfather by the Thai police appears to have been the American Embassy in Bangkok.
The documentary evidence against Boyce, Furey and Richard is irrefutable. Their conduct was indefensible.
The State and Justice Departments have been sitting on the evidence for nearly a decade, refusing to acknowledge its significance or implications.
The Thai government should declare Boyce, Richard and Furey persona non grata and arrest and prosecute them if they return to Thailand.
It is inconceivable that anyone but the most corrupt and perverse American or Thai official would accept the nomination of Boyce as American ambassador to Thailand.
The Thai government should protest the nomination of Boyce. The US Congress should reject it.

THE HON CARMINE DI SAPIO
I suggest that the GRAVEYARD should contain a reference to the Hon Carmine Di Sapio, the last of the Tammany bosses. The following is from the NY Times
Carmine De Sapio; Led Revival of Tammany Hall
Associated Press Thursday, July 29, 2004; Page B06
Carmine De Sapio, 95, a New York political boss of the 1950s and 1960s and the last boss of New York City's Tammany Hall political organization, died July 27 at a hospital in New York. No cause of death was reported.
In his heyday, Mr. De Sapio's political muscle stretched from City Hall to the White House after he orchestrated the post-World War II revival of the powerful Tammany Hall machine.
Tammany Hall, as the Manhattan Democratic Party was once known, had declined in the 1930s after dominating New York politics for nearly a century.
Mr. De Sapio revived Tammany after World War II, successfully promoting the election of Robert Wagner as mayor in 1953 and W. Averell Harriman as governor in 1954. He became such a power broker that Time magazine put him on its cover, while political writers speculated on his influence over the Democratic presidential nominee.
He tried to distance himself from Tammany Hall predecessors such as William "Boss" Tweed, the infamous 19th-century Democratic Party boss who died in prison serving a sentence for corruption.
Mr. De Sapio also pushed a progressive agenda. He named the first Puerto Rican district leader in Manhattan and backed Manhattan's first black borough president. He also supported legislation such as the Fair Employment Practices Law pushed by President Harry S. Truman and endorsed rent control and lowering the voting age to 18.
Still, Mr. De Sapio was dogged by charges that he courted organize crime and was corrupt himself. He was accused of staffing city government with clubhouse hacks and steered city contracts to a company that state officials said cheated taxpayers out of millions of dollars.
Mr. De Sapio's leadership came under increasing attack from reformers in the Democratic party. He was linked by Senate investigators to New York mob boss Frank Costello.
Mr. De Sapio also inadvertently helped launch the career of another New York politician: Edward Koch. The future mayor of New York was no fan of Mr. De Sapio's, and he joined a reform club in Greenwich Village that opposed the old-style Democratic machine.
Mr. De Sapio lost his position as Greenwich Village's district leader in 1961, ending a two-decade run in the position. When Mr. De Sapio tried to make a comeback, he was defeated by Koch, who was aligned with the reform Village Independent Democrats.
Eventually, Mr. De Sapio was denounced as corrupt and authoritarian and abandoned by allies. In 1969, he was convicted of petty bribery and was later sent to prison.
His wife, Theresa Natale, whom he had married in 1937, died in 1998. Survivors include a daughter.

Bangkok January 8, 2005
Dear Mr. Blackstone,
The American State Department official, Ralph Lee ("Skip") Boyce, assumed the post of American Ambassador to Thailand, at the American Embassy in Bangkok on Monday, January 3, 2005.
I was in Thailand at the time of the incident that you related in your article. I remember it well. It shocked and disgusted the American community.
Boyce's appointment is a perverse gesture of definace by the many degenerates - especially homosexuals, pedophiles and prostitutes - who seem to have the run of the State Department, and Washington, D. C., in general.
It is a shame that Thailand has allowed Boyce on Thai soil. This is a clear signal that Thailand remains a country where perverts of every description are free do as they wish and, what is far worse, that they can expect the help of Thai officials to do it.

Regarding Ralph Boyce:
I too heard of the matter that Mr. Blackstone wrote about, when it happened in Thailand, almost ten years ago.
There are occasional scandals at the American embassy in Bangkok that the general public in Thailand reads or hears about. Usually, these scandals concern the issuance of visas to unqualified Thais; or the denial of visas to Thais who qualify for them; or long, undue and unexplained delays in the issuance of new passports to Americans and other delayed legal paper work.
But there is scandalous conduct at the American embassy in Bangkok that the public does not read about and may not hear about. These scandals concern embassy personnel who are caught smuggling stolen antiquities, pornography and drugs; pimping; whoring; trafficking in men, women and children; pursuing homosexual affairs; pedophilia; shoplifting; stealing jewelry; running up and skipping out on bills; charging vast sums of money for personal expenses to State Department accounts; stealing money from charge card accounts of visiting American tourists or expatriates; spying for other countries, usually by selling classified documents to unauthorized persons; conspiring with local cops and lawyers to arrest American expatriates and tourists on false charges and extort money from them; conspiring to murder local American expatriates and tourists; conspiring to cover up suspicious circumstances of the deaths of Americans, and more.
What the general public has noticed over the years, is that mission and consular staff have grown increasingly corrupt and unreliable. Embassy personnel are also less educated today than before. Many of them cannot write a decent sentence. Many cannot put two intelligible words together when speaking.
Like Ralph Boyce, the last three American ambassadors to Thailand - Ito, Richard Hecklinger, Darryl Johnson - were very mediocre civil servants, desk-jobbers who drifted up the ranks of the civil service and paid for ambassadorships toward the end of their careers. They could not be relied upon in emergencies. They caused problems for others, sometimes deliberately.
The incident that Mr. Blackstone described was a deliberate conspiracy by American, Belgian and Thai pedophiles in Bangkok, Pattaya and Belgium to pervert an innocent child and thwart rescue attempts. The officials concerned believed they could get away with it because they had diplomatic immunity.

Message from Frans Hausmann of Pattaya, Thailand, January 23, 2005
Regarding the pedophile scandal at the American Embassy in Bangkok:
The efforts to protect the Thai child mentioned by Mr. Blackstone (see below) were obstructed by a pedophile and prostitution ring based in Antwerp, Belgium, and Pattaya, Thailand.
This gang procured women and children to American and Belgian officials in Thailand, including local embassy personnel.
One member of the gang was a well-known Belgian hit-man and sub-contract killer, jewel thief and con-man, Guillaume Vogeleer, originally from Brussels, who owned a bar in Pattaya called the Airborne Legion Bar, which was registered in his Thai wifes name. Vogeleer, who used the name Jimmy the Belgian, and his wifes family had long ties to prostitution.
Vogeleer hung around the Madrid Bar on Pat Pong, Bangkok go-go bar strip, for many years. He procured girls and children and peddled stolen gems to expatriates in Thailand, in particular employees of the American and Belgian embassies and other missions in Bangkok.
Vogeleer led efforts to bribe Thai welfare and immigration officials to withdraw an official protective order preventing the childs mother from taking him out of the country.
To cover up later, Vogeleer and the Belgian ambassador threw a party to celebrate Belgian National Day at the Pattaya Orphanage and donated rice to the orphanage.
Another member of the pedophile and prostitution gang was Florimond (Flor) De Loose, part owner of a car junkyard in Wommelgem, a suburb of Antwerp. In the early and mid-ninetees, De Loose hung out often at the Ketelja, the most notorious bar in Antwerps red-light district.
When Vogeleer died in 1999 (he drank himself to death), his wife sold the Airborne Legion Bar to De Loose, who renamed it De Ster. The bar is registered in the name De Looses Thai wife, Prayoon (Tim) Sinchoo. Belgian policemen on vacation and Belgian officials from Bangkok frequent it.
Sinchoo planned fraudulent registrations of the child, to be perpetrated in Belgium, before immigration officials in Thailand withdrew the order to keep him in the country.

I noted the comments about the complicity of State Department officials in the trafficking of a young Thai child from Thailand to Belgium in 1995 on this website.
I have read long, detailed reports and documents about this incident later, as a journalist, and I spoke to some of the people concerned.
Social workers for Thailand's Public Welfare Department and top Immigration Bureau officials issued an order to prevent a Thai woman who lived in a precarious situation in Belgium from taking her child to Belgium.
An international pedophile and prostitution ring, which planned to procure the child to pedophiles in Belgium, recruited the head of American Citizens Service at the American consulate in Bangkok, Christopher Richard, to get the child to Belgium. This was a private matter that did not concern Richard, the embassy or the American government in any way. But Richard, acting in an official capacity, contacted the Thai social workers and immigration officials directly and tried to persuade them, with surprisingly dirty tactics, to cancel the protective order.
Richard and the pedophile ring succeeded in compromising the Thai social workers and immigration officials. (There were reports later that bribes were paid to social workers and immigration officials.)
Richards misconduct, which was criminal, is well-documented but top State Department officials in Washington and Bangkok have tried to defend Richard with lies.
Richard stayed on in Bangkok after his stint as head of ACS. He became consul but left after only one year on the job.
I have been able to trace other American embassy officials involved - Ralph Leo (Skip) Boyce, jr. and Thomas Patrick Furey - but Richard seems to have disappeared completely from the U. S. diplomatic corps. For several years, in the late 1990s, Americans with ties to the official community insisted that he was still in Bangkok and working for the embassy.

Looking under Secretary of Internal Affairs for Pennsylvania, I see my great grandfather is not listed. He was Philip Hastings Dewey and it was in 1930 and 1931 that he held this office...maybe 1929 ,too. He is buried at Knowlton Elk Run Cemetery in Marshlands, Pa.. His daughter, Maude Dewey Feig was my grandmother who died at age 98 in 1992. She is buried in that cemetery as is my mother...Bettie Feig Duclos.
I grew up hearing lots of stories about how dedicated my great grandfather was to his position of Internal Affairs and how much he loved the land and the wildlife of northern Pa where he was from. (Tioga County )
We have a photo of him dedicating a new building on the Penn State Campus while he was in this position. It is the GRANGE BUIDLING and still used in some capacity at Penn State today.

I was hoping to make a statistical comparison of Democrats and Republicans who died in airplane crashes. I noticed that not every politician is listed as one or the other. Those who aren't, are also not characterized otherwise. What would it take to add some sort of party-membership code (D, R, S[ocialist], C[ommunist], U[nknown], O[ther]? That way we can widen the net, comparison-wise, and avoid drawing erroneous conclusions.

Regarding Ralph Leo Boyce, jr., current American ambassador to Thailand, I noticed that Lawrence Blackstone has reordered his website about Boyce and others involved in a pedophile scandal. It's not just the clergy that is full of homosexuals and pedophiles. The State Department might be worse. I recommend Mr. Blackstone's website to anyone who is interested in reading about the perverse goings-on in the U. S. State Department and especially the American embassy in Bangkok. Spies, traitors, homosexuals, pedophiles. Indeed, when I walk into an American embassy today, I quickly realize that all the wrong people are employed. There was much better personnel 40 years ago. Something happened shortly after the Indo-China adventure. Many months ago, this website was advertised everywhere. I have just browsed the google and yahoo search engines and could not find the website. Here is the website address: http://bsltaocnke.tripod.com . Edward T. Charles, Bangkok

I'm researching who and how many politicians (in our nation's history) have run for and served in elected public office while concurrently owning and managing either a newspaper, magazine, radio or tv station. The search here at The Political Graveyard has been helpful, but I need more detailed info that gets me to the actual period of time in which the media outlet ownership can be cross-referenced with the actual public office service. Anyone who can help me, or point me in the right direction, can email me at jay.hargett@sbcglobal.net.

Dear Mr. K,
I'm Rebecca McClellan, and I'm listed on your site. I'm also a genealogist. It was fun to see a relative, John Landis of Indiana, also listed.
I have recently won election (in November, 2005) to the City Council in Centennial, CO (www.CentennialColorado.com), and I represent Ward III. Centennial is in Arapahoe County. Centennial Council Members serve for four years per term. This is my first term (beginning Jan. 9, 2006), and I have never held office before.
Also, my friend Meg Froelich is listed on the site as well. She has just been re-elected to her second two year term as a City Council Member in Greenwood Village, Colorado, which is also in Arapahoe County.
Thank you for a great site! - Rebecca McClellan

My son is doing a County Report for his Social Studies project in 4th grade. We noted that Morrow Co. (the birthplace of one of President Warren G. Harding) is not on your list of Ohio co. Thought you might want to update it and add it to your list. A great website for my son's County Report. Thank You.

About three years ago a "Malinda" was looking for information about Frederick C. Wulff and his family. I am his granddaughter. Grandpa was the first superintendant of Grant park in Wisconsin. I was five years old when we went back to the park where my Dad was born and raised. It's still a beautiful park and Dad has wonderful memories of growing up there. I can be reached at Lindaleeswift@hotmail.com if Malinda would like more information.

Henning Blomen was the Socialist Labor caniddate for President in 1968. He apparently was a gadfly candidate in Massachusetts for many years.
According to the Boston Globe on July 20, 1993 ("HENNING A. BLOMEN, 83 WAS SOCIALIST PARTY ORGANIZER)," Blomen died at a nursing home in North Reading, MA in July, 1993.
Is there a better way to update the political graveyard?

I just came upon the Political Graveyard, in particular the Index to Politicians: Hooper. Whoever posted Ben W. Hooper (1870-1957) has him listed as Ben Walker Hooper of Cocke Co., TN. In his autobiography, The Unwanted Boy", Page 13, I quote - "So, on November 9, 1879, Ben Walter Wade, now transformed into Ben Walter Hooper, returned to Newport, the place of his unwelcome birth."
I hope this can be corrected.

The information on the historical marker for Gen. William Moore located on the courthouse square in Lynchburg, TN, which I researched and placed there, states that he died 10 March 1871 and is buried in the Moore Family Cemetery, which is near Mulberry, TN, in Lincoln County, TN. His image is on a display plate at Miss Mary Bobo's in Lynchburg, but l don't know who made it or if reproductuions are available. He is my ggg grandfathe, and l'd really like to have one of those plates. kaycorn@comcast.net

Hon. Charles H. Brown (1834-1897), Mayor of Omaha, Nebraska (1867-68), US Congressman, Nebraska State Representative, is buried in Stephentown, Rensselaer County, New York. His monument is located in the old Brown family cemetery now managed by the Stephentown Cemetery Association. He is my relative. Stephentown is where he was born and raised.

Your Political Graveyard is lacking an entry for Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Among the U.S. Consul Agents should be: Ellworth Josephus Wiggins, served 1891-1893. He died Dec 14, 1934 and is buried in El Carmen Cemetery, Monterrey, Mexico.

Please be advised that John Berdan, first mayor of Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio, d. 1841, is buried in Toledo's Forest Cemetery, NOT Toledo's Woodlawn Cemetery. It is his son, John Jr., who is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery. John Jr. was a businessman, NOT a mayor. Records of both cemeteries will verify this matter. FJF

What a great resource you have here! In your alphabetical listings could you correct the spelling of my Great-Grandmother's name? Her name is Elisabeth C. T. Miller. You have Elizabeth. Her full name is Elisabeth Clark Tyler Miller. I have some of her own flyers from her failed bid for the U.S. Senate that confirm the spelling. Thank you.
