The killer loss for me wasn't internet sharing but the version incompatibility - obviously Apple is trying to push you in the direction of getting everyone on the network to install 4.0.1 by making 4.0.1 and 4.0.0 shared libraries incompatible. This strategy would have worked if there was any reason to upgrade to 4.0.1 - network effects being what they are it simply meant that I copied 4.0.0 from one machine to the only machine 4.0.1 had been installed on.

I've been using MP3 Sushi all along for sharing, even before iTunes 4. If anyone's interested my library is available at blueg3.homeip.net:8888 (please don't overload my DSL connection).

Done. It makes since for Apple to close the pirate channel.

Already done. It just wasn't an important feature.

Well, it may not make me sound cool enough, but other than one gee whiz time of listening to some of the tunes on Damien Barrett's iTunes library (what a huge library!), I never used the Internet sharing anyway. And the fact that it was being used by some to steal music spelled doom for the feature anyway.

I'll be upgrading to the new version soon...

Yes...Internet sharing is not an option for me on a slow dialup..even if it were I would upgrade.

Done. I will go back to MP3 Sushi for my serving needs over the net.

Not until the benefits of whatever future version is released counterbalance the loss of sharing.

Yeah, I'll be upgrading. (In fact, I already did.) Obviously, iTunes will continue to be upgraded by Apple, and I'm not going to forgo them for the sake of keeping internet sharing.
