1. Give Us Back our Democracy
2. The Observer, April 20, 2003. Available online:

3. Edward Said, a Professor of Comparative Literature at Columbia University, examines "what the US's Middle East policy has wrought since George W. Bush came to power."
4. Said concludes that this administration's policies and actions reveal "an almost total failure in democracy - ours, not Iraq's." Because the "doctrine of military pre-emption was never voted on by the American people or their representatives" and because "Americans have been cheated and lied to on matters of the gravest constitutional importance" Said argues that it's time for US citizens to reclaim democracy.
