It's rare to have a Nature paper to be discussed here. The paper refers to biological/neuronal discoveries, which are really interesting. Pitily only the procedure are presented in the method section but the analysis of the algorithm is lacked, due to the length limitaiton.

I wish they had elaborated a little more on the details of "finding the fragment" in the test picture. Do they compare pixels? Do they look each area of fragment size in the picture and look for min SSE or something?
What happens to the color information? So if we have a black & White photograph of a face and the same photograph but turned archive style (brown and white), would it still find the fragment?
