Beautiful look at the sun coming up at 6:57 AM June 13, 2009 Good morning all. It sure is a nice morning on the lake with bright sunshine starting to cover the lake and in the woods around the house the birds are really sing and carrying on lot's of conversations with one another. I am posting one picture with this and then adding just one other on top of it. You all have a great day and pray the showers stay away for the better part of the day.

How true McDude. It is going very fast. Aren't you glad that you are were you are now and not in the old place. I was told that it is being done by the original owner and just as flimsy as before. I can't believe that the building inspector let's things go like what they are doing over there. He is letting them build on filled land that has just about 12" of fill over the concrete that they buried. It is not being built on compacted and/or virgin soil. Oh well I'm not living in it. It has been a fantastic weekend so far. I see a red pickup over at the Forti's and the great looking steam boat came by this bright sunny afternoon. The news as of this afternoon is that it is the senses that the Loons have NOT nested this year. This is third hand and was told to me that it was originally from the town crier.

Ya, I caught that when I read it. I believe that is what was told to me at the begining that they were going to put in a concrete culvert (bridge style) and the goverment is paying for it through a grant and the present one was 3/4 paid for by FEMA because it was damaged by the floods.

Just saw this in another section of the Baysider....Here's exactly what they are planning on doing... "At the intersection of Alton Shores Road and Wendy Drive, the 48-inch metal culvert will be replaced with a four-foot-by-nine-foot box concrete culvert. No date has been scheduled."

McD, It sounds like they will end up doing it the way I stated in thread 1853 like they did the last time. It sounds as if they are going to do it in a more extensive way than the last time. Speedway all the way through here we come and Marlene Dr. will be the next main highway in NH. I'm glad I'm like you and live way off of the road and I can't see all the traffic.

From the Baysider: Alton Shores Road Work Sparks Debate Calling the boards attention to an upcoming culvert replacement on Alton Shores Road, Town Administrator Russell Bailey reported that Highway Agent Ken Roberts recently approached him with a proposal to save the town $17,000 and cut down on man hours by completely shutting down a section of Alton Shores Road during the installation, and re-routing traffic onto a nearby private road. In exchange, Bailey said, the Highway Department would have to re-grade a portion of the private road at an estimated cost of $7,400. Town Attorney James Sessler was made aware of the proposal, he added, and said it could be handled through a temporary road construction easement. While Hussey and Bolster favored the idea, Selectman Loring Carr voiced reservations about setting a precedent by putting taxpayer money into a private road. Bolster compared the situation to leasing a piece of equipment, explaining that the town would essentially be leasing the private road for a brief period of time. Commenting that he felt Roberts proposal was akin to leasing a piece of equipment and putting a new motor in it at the towns expense, Carr asked what the issue was with the existing culvert. Bailey replied that the culvert cannot effectively hold water during storms, and has frequently led to flooding and wash-outs in the past. Fuller and board Chairman Steve McMahon echoed Carrs doubts about the proposal, voting against it initially. Asked by Hussey whether she truly felt it was preferable to inconvenience residents of Alton Shores Road and spend a net total of $10,000 that could otherwise be kept in town coffers, Fuller replied that the idea of setting a precedent concerned her. Thered be inconvenience either way, she said. I dont know … $10,000 is $10,000, Bolster commented. Well, a precedents a precedent, too,Carr replied. In an effort to make the proposal more palatable, McMahon suggested that the board clearly stipulate that it is to be a one-time thing. Asked by Carr whether the town would be committing itself to any future liability for its work on the private road, Bailey replied that under the terms of the easement, the town would be absolved of any responsibility for maintenance or repairs. In an effort to prevent property owners along the private road from stepping in and claiming that the town did not do enough, Carr asked who would decide when the work was complete. Bailey said the sole determination would rest with Roberts. Hussey asked whether it would be possible to bid the project under both scenarios (with and without traffic rerouted onto the private road), just to see what the difference is. We can do that, Bailey replied. With a new motion on the table encompassing the issues raised by Carr, the board voted unanimously in favor of Roberts proposal.

I guess that's part of living on the pond. I didn't hear it and very thankful you kept it all for yourself. It is still ding dong windy up here with a frost advisory for tonight.

Someone was so moved by the sunset last night he felt complelled to hook up his electric guitar and amplifier in the front yard and serendade us all to "Sweet Home Alabama" and Jimi Hendrix's version of the "Star Spangled Banner" among other things were what I heard before closing the windows and doors. I'm sure he'll be a big hit 4th of July week-end during the fireworks. Could you hear it over on Sunset?

KIMDAVE, I can't say with a positively that it will be up and running, but if the past years trend helps any you should have water as I do not remember a year that it was missed except for a few homes here and there that had broken pipes that needed to be repair, but again that is far and few between.
