RLW - Click on "printer-friendly page" and it will give you more options! Heading up to the lake on the day after Thanksgiving, an annual traditon, with the cooler full of turkey and all the other good leftovers! YUM!

Here is a turkey recipe you may be interested in ....

Here is a turkey recipe that also includes the use of POPCORN as a stuffing --
imagine that. When I found this recipe, I thought what a "perfect" way to tell
when poultry is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out:

8 - 15 lb. turkey
1 cup melted butter/margarine (small amount for the outside - balance in bird)

1 small onion, coarsely chopped (optional)
1 cup dry stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is Good.)
1 cup uncooked popcorn (ORVILLE REDENBACHER'S LOW FAT)
Salt/pepper (and/or other favorite seasonings)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Brush turkey with melted butter and seasonings. Fill cavity with stuffing,
popcorn and remaining melted shortening. Place turkey in pan, neck end toward
the back of the oven. After a while, Listen - you'll begin to hear the popping
sounds.

When the turkey's ass blows the oven door open and the bird flies across the room, it's done. -

 Happy Thanksgiving!!!

No pumpkin pie for me this year thank you. RLW - So glad you were able to join us yesterday and we had the opportunity to meet. Thanks for dropping by. What a great time we all had remembering,(or sometimes misremembering as Roger Clemmons likes to say) our old adventures. Here's one of the stories Mike Dunn told so well Saturday nite I was hurting from laughing. He and I were walking back from the Bay late on one of the darkest nites you can imagine. An old farmer from the top of Alton Mountain gave us a ride up and over the Mountain past his place. He warned us to be careful as there was a bear in the area that had been killing his chickens. We really didn't need to hear that. About 1/2 way back to Mike's camp we heard a squirrel or acorn fall or something in the woods behind us. Even though we could hardly see the road we took off running as fast as we could all the way back to his place. I think both of us realized we didn't need to outrun the bear, only each other!

Its a quiet Monday here at the Lake, about 45 degrees and overcast. Time for my afternoon walk. Not sure why John W suggested I wear his buckskin coat with the big white patch on the back and take the old short cut through the woods, but I've always trusted his advice.

Check this out. I came upon it and got a good chuckle from it and thought you may also. Some received it from me via e-mail.

Oh you're funny Cindy. Let's don't rush it as I want the snowmobile, ice fishing and snow shoveling season before May 30th.
Bruce I'll give ya the light signal this evening to say hi and make you feel that there are other people around.

Hey Bruce - how did your walk go ? Glad you took my advice. Only seems fair seeing that I took your advice about my "water on the knee". I did like you said ~ wear pumps (treatment for water on the knee). I misunderstood "pump" and have been dragging around this long extension cord. But I gotta admit, it does seem to help. Just wish I could stop tripping on the cord. Do they make a cordless one?

It was a good walk John, only a few shots taken at me. Fortunately their aim was as bad as yours was that day at the sandpit with your new shotgun when you peppered your dad with bird shot. I thought that was going to be your last day on earth. Seriously I hope your knee is improving. Can't Cheryl drain it with a turkey baster or something?

Don't worry Ralph, I haven't gone batty yet. Shoot, with the big screen TV, Cindy's laptop, and a refrigerator full of food I feel like I'm at a 5 star resort. The peace and quiet is fantastic. Looking forward to the whole gang arriving this weekend though. Cindy's coming up tomorrow and taking me to Johnson's for my onion ring and seafood fix, so I really do have it made.
