Our VMF has not had OT for over 6 months on our days off....we are still getting OT during the week, but only up to 2 hours a day..get used to it..you should not be living on the OT anyway...

VOMA's - Is there anything documented about being able to open LLV doors without a key?

HI my name is willie gonzalez,an EX-DISTRICT DSI,because they abolished our positions a week ago, apwu is working on it.but on the meantime, maybe i can answer someones question about vehicle doors, the new driver safety postal guidelines which are on the ELM-804 states that a letter carrier can have their door open,as long as 1-they are on their line of travel 2-no turns are made 3-the speed is less than 15 mph 4- they are not going for more than 500 feet without stopping, anything other than that ,please close your doors.same apply to shoulder harness, remeber the lap belt must be worn anytime the vehicle is in motion.

I'm a letter carrier with an LLV. My rear door cable broke and the door came slamming down. Luckily I wasn't under it at the time. I tried to pick up the door but it was really heavy like it was spring-loaded. Is this normal?

Well it looks like Bobby and Mike did it again (maybe that could be a song) first it was the Drivers in Tacoma years of suffering than a huge sell out only 17 of the 32 drivers are returning and the other work the 15 drivers did is still being performed by the contractor. The arbitration that was won was thanks to the regional coordinator Omar, read the case Bob and Mike fucked up the 32 argument and we won on Omar’s constant demand that we but article 12 in the Grievance, thanks Omar. Second we have Columbus Ohio Bob and Mike have been working on the runs for the contractors for months and here we go Columbus is being contracted out and the drivers are being excessed up to 500 miles away, another great job. Well let’s not forget the ERT arbitration were the Arbitrator said that the Union filed the grievance untimely and we notified earlier than they said they were, or that they negotiated from 100% full time to 90/10 great job 10% of the craft not getting their hours. How about the casuals in MVS for allowing Management 10% PTF’s not the 0% they wanted we now have casuals all year long, how many never had casuals except for xmas now have then all year, another great job. The list goes on, Holddown not being utilized for maximization, from 2 hours to 1 hour the time utilized for a run reposting and many others. But let’s not forget the MOU on work rules the greatest accomplishment these 2 so called leaders have gotten for the craft. I hope their will be someone anyone running against them this election I will do whatever is needed to support anyone else, one thing I hope its not to late.
PS to all who support these 2, stop the charade and start thinking of the craft not your pocket.

There is only one cable that retracts the door so when it breaks there is no easy way to open the door. Often the spring itself breaks and that will make it act the same way. Don't know if you have a VOMA or not so if you do just fill out a repair tag. No VOMA ... Still fill out the tag and tell your supervisor you can't work out of that vehicle.
