Hey all ya all's, thanks so much for the kind words and encouragements! On the mend with my sis in SF for now, certainly I could be in worse places!! To tell the tale as of today... Total tally was ruptured spleen, that's what had me in the ICU for 2 nights pending a removal (thankfully it patched itself up), broken tibia (leg bone, not serious, I can hobble), and other assorted back aches and pains (hope they go away without pharmies). No broken ribs, ha, thankful to be avoiding that agony. But one future concern is my left knee's ACL, if that talks to me too much over the next several months/couple years I'll have to look into a reconstruction on it. As for the particulars of the ax itself... I recall nothing of the incident, but in the days after I could recall the thundering 'bang' of the accident itself, scary. I was helmeted and my head and neck are great, but I was out cold until paramedics arrived. As I understand it today the driver, drunk, blew the scene. A good samaritan type supposedly saw what transpired in his rear mirror and slowed to stop the perpetrating driver (where the drunk then realized he got a flat tire from the incident). The good guy then came back to my attention and called 911. So lots to do now, besides heal and treat I'll be seeking legal recourses against the driver, a 50 year old mid-day Sat drunk less than human of a being. At least he was insured, but considering the circumstances I feel I should sue to guy down to two-wheels (and not much else). Know any particularly good/accomplished CA lawyers? Let me know! The one lead I had on such a personal injury lawyer is not looking so hot right now. I am confident after reviewing all the particulars of my case that I should have no problem finding good counsel who would be eager to take my case. So again, thanks for all the support!!!!!! I very much looking forward to seeing the yellow and black mass down the road (or coming up on my behind) when next I can be on two-wheels within its vicinity. Best, yo's! B

What happened was: The party, Friday night in Nate and Meredith's backyard was too much fun. We passed around a bottle of tequila, had beers, and were all pretty safe. Next morning (after a safety meeting) we took Hardin, to West, to I-70 B to University. This was probably the worst way to travel by bike in Columbia. Four lanes, fast cars, we're all hung-over. One huge hill on University left Mike walking the bike and struggling to get a good breath. I peeled off the group to sit with Mike on the side of the road. He's concentrating on what his body is telling him. After 20 mins of relaxing and drinking water, the shortness of breath, fuzzy vision and inability to balance on the bike is still there. There's no safe bikeable option, so our ride is over. Eli is Mike's ride, so he's pulled back as well. All three of us (Mike, myself and Eli) are bummed we missed the rest of the ride, but we had to err on the side of caution. Mike said he was sorry he "ruined" the ride, but I assured him that Team SKA takes care of Team SKA, and I can say with 100% sincerity that I had a great time. So now you know our story... let's hear what happened on the trail!

Belvis,
When searching for a lawyer make sure to shop around. I would c at least. 5 and from each u develop a new set of questions for the next. Then make sure u find one that will work for the settlement. No settlement no pay. That been my life experience.

Mike! I'm glad to hear you are feeling better! And as far as you feeling bad about it how many time you have cared for and transported us crazy drunken ska over the years as a team we owed you one! Thanks Eli for being the one to help! What a great ride and a great time! I'm really glad I came and got to see some of you crazy ska! I'm in rocky ford Colorado right now for work. A long drive where I had time to recap the weekends events. I miss you guys, as always, already! Hope everyone made it back safely... I felt pretty safe on the way home. Until next time... BTW: spoon determined on the ride this should be my new name. I really like it as it has a nice ring to it

Glad to hear youre feeling back to normal Mike. I wish we would have got to at least see you off, we missed you out there on the trail for sure. Same goes for Kne-Eli and Jeff! Better safe than sorry though. Safety definitely is priority #1 on team SKA! It was a great weekend with all you guys, definitely my new favorite way to spend halloween!
As for the Mid Mo BRR Team Ska Lost and Found- I never got a chance to give you your gloves back eli, but they did come in handy at about 1 AM on the trail. Also, Ill put out an APB for a missing piece of saftey equipment, its that red metal one. Anybody else lose anything? It was a hectic weekend!

Actually I am missing my spokiez glasses they are grey frames, and they arer the ones that James has made specially for his design. Please let me know if anyone sees them.
As for the ride, it was amazing! I wish that I could express to everyone the emotional high that this ride had to give. This ride was worth the 14hours 800 miles each way that I drove. The tunnel dance party with the musical robot and the lazer light show was the highlight, I am realy glad that I stayed out late enough to see that.
