Avril Lavigne has co-opted the punk imagery to try to make her music seem cooler to teens who feel disenfranchised by the pop princesses like Britney Spears and Mandy Moore. In reality, Avril's music is *still* pop music that is as manufactured and artificial as all of the other bubblegum pop that's been spit out by the music machine lately. If she was vaguely original, I would respect her more. Unfortunately, she is neither original or very talented. If you like her music, that's great. If you like her style, that's also great. Just recognize that neither of those things is something she came up with herself (and she only takes credit for contributing to the lyrics of her songs).
I've probably opened a can of worms by saying this, but it's how I feel. I suppose I should pull out my marshmallows so I'm ready for the flames.

The site was clearly intended to be a satire, initially. To have grown the way it has... it boggles the mind.

i like how avrilutionaries re-appropriate what avril/che is supposed to stand for whether she or the recording co. approves, cares, or not. the fact that the satire is lost on many people including mtv, spin, etc. is hilarious.

CHOM in Montreal ahd sold out and ppl there were tuning into TO for the good music, Now that C.,C., & M. have gotten so big, they are buyin up in the Ottawa market too. They want advertizers dollarz they will just pay lip- service now to their listeners desires, and try even to tell us what we want to listen too, so they can make happy-cakez w/their sponsors (money) and screw us. But they SURE hate the net, coz NEVER have so many ppl been able to ga\et together and shout out, FUCK YOU, I DECIDE FOR ME....NOT YOU!!!!!!!!
