I don't have the collection in front of me but the poem I liked the most was the one where the person is saying they are this and they are that and contrasts New York and Eastern KY, military service with a peacenik. The different nature of her being. My words not yours. I hope that is better. Maybe. :)

Show, don't tell. We always here this. What does it mean? Here is an example from Frank Capra improvising a scene from 20 pages of dialogue depicting a marriage on the rocks. "Here's what we'll do. We show the husband and wife in an elevator. The husband has his hat on. Elevator stops. A pretty girl gets into the elevator. The husband takes off his hat for the pretty girl."

That's a great example.

I'm out too - got all ready but just too pooped. Just back from vacation and not recovered from all that "relaxing".

Sorry I'm not going to make it to McK's. I tried. Left an hour ago and just got home again - first they were doing clean up along 53, so stop, wait, go then around Fisherville (Finchville?) a big ol' accident. Everyone was okay but they were all teenagers (5 of them) and the damage was huge (car hit by trailer hauled pick up - smashed, tires flattened, probably totaled), and at the top of a hill with no shoulders on the road, so they were going to sit there a while. Got turned around and realized I'd have to go the long way around and decided it wasn't practical since I have to leave by 11.30. Maybe next week. Arrrgh.
