Hello everybody, I would just like to add my comments: I have a 12" for 2 weeks now, and I have to say that I didn't noticed any warping problem. On my desk, which seems to be flat, the machine stands perfectly stable. On my dinner table, which is in glass (more or less 1cm thick, so it should also be flat), I have no problem either. On another table, which is far from being flat, it is not stable at all. My girlfriend has an iBook, which is stable on the three surfaces. Conclusion: on the non-flat one, because the 12" is much more rigid, I get the feeling that it may be warped, but I'm sure it isn't.

Concerning battery life, it doesn't lasts more than 3 hours, in "mixed" use (internet connection, photoshop, iTunes, word processing, etc...). I've just added an extra 512 MB ram this week-end, and I hope that this will help to reduce power consumption (maybe due to too heavy hard drive activity with only 256 MB ram). I hope this will also help to reduce the heat generated under the left wrist, just where the hard drive is located.

By the way, it seems that my machine generates less heat now (but before having added the extra 512 MB) than when it was brand new. Did anybody noticed the same phenomena? Or may be I'm just getting used to it...

I'm perfectly happy with my 12" Powerbook. I actually managed over 4 and a half hours of battery life (albeit I was only running a Word Processor). This turned out to be a pain actually, since I was trying to drain the battery to calibrate it.

I don't think the Powerbooks warp. I have noticed a very slight rocking motion depending on which surface I place the Powerbook on (either because of the rubber feet underneath or the unevenness of the surface). This is similar to my dining set where the chairs will either rock or appear perfectly stable depending on where I position them on the floor. A good test might be to find a surface on which the Powerbook does not rock, and place it on this surface periodically to check for warping. I'm confident that people will find that this is not the case.

Paul, good move on going for a replacement for that battery. I am thinking of doing the same thing with mine since it just isn't holding a very good charge for a battery that is just a month old...

I bought my girlfriend a 12" in mid-February, and we have not seen any warping. The battery life on hers is rarely over two and a half hours though. Our local Apple reseller had their people look at it, and they ordered a new battery. Even with all of the hints and suggestions we have found on the web, the battery rarely gets above three hours of life. Unfortunate, since she travels around with it quite often and would love to have an extra hour or so of life before needing to plug it in, which tends to cause it to heat up on the left side.

No warping here - mine rests perfectly flat.

I normally keep my 12" on a Podium CoolPad for better air circulation.

I also get about 3 hours of battery life with no attempts to reduce power: screen at close to full brightness, airport turned on. I'm sure I'd get close to 4 if I reduce the brightness & turn off the Airport as I usually do when I travel.
