First of all thats incredible amounts of lame on not being able to get that scholarship.
Second working more is great, cause it means that pit in your stomache doesn't have to stay that way.
Third Asian Kung-Fu Generation is sweet, I'm just starting to get into them myself. I hope you folks get a chance to check em out and tell us about how they are live.

Oh. My. God. I love Nobuo Uematsu. I can't believe I didn't know about the Black Mages. Thanks for this! I'm going to listen to the clips and go into a geek trance now.

That does suck about the scholarship. Hopefully they'll realize the impossibility of being in *two* countries simultaneously.

I've got that Black Mages album, and I like it a lot. BTW Ian, as far as Japanese bands go, who are you currently listening to/interested in? I'm always looking to expand my J-music collection. Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Janne da Arc and Do As Infinity. A few months ago one of my friends had an exchange student stay with him and she introduced me to the music of “SWOO I like them a lot too, but they haven't released anything since Sept. 2001. I look forward to hearing more from them someday.

Bean: To be blunt, I'm not a j-pop/light j-rock fan. If you like J-pop, try Chemistry, they were really popular until like last month. For rock try Eastern Youth or Boys and Girls.
