As an investment it will do better than your portfolio.

Lots of Roy Rogers & Dale Evens memorabilia continues to turn up after Dusty closed the museum. Lots of boots, buckles & western wear.

Anyone else get the High Noon auction catalog to see that one of Tom Horn's Winchester rifles will be auctioned off next weekend? I would love to own it but by the time my wife got finished with me it would cost me a lot more than the $125,000 - $175,000 estimated value, and she would end up owning the rifle too! I spent some time in WY a few yrs ago and traveled all thru the area; saw what is left of the Swan Land & Cattle Company that John Coble owned. Crossed the stateline into CO and visited Horn's grave.

Not really western wear but during the past couple of wks I ran into a guy wearing a Victorian era Top Hat. The first time he was wearing a brown one with some flashing Christmas lights around the ribbon. A few days later I ran into him again and he was wearing a black hat & ribbon. I got to talk to him a bit. He is an American history buff and enjoys the Victorian era. Said he has the shirts, vests & coats and at least in the winter months he dresses that way regularly, although he wasn't wearing them at either time I encountered him. He said it's hard to dress that way in the summer. He looked good in the hats. I told him that I regularly wear old west style of cowboy hats for the protection they offer, but sometimes it can be intimidating, depending on where I'm going. I'm not sure I would look good in a Top Hat or have the cajones to wear one!

Aye Sell, the tan tooled belt on the lower left is Bohlin made and is thumb carved on the underside. The black belt at the bottom (laying on the boots) is a tooled Seidel made belt with thumb carving.

Is the belt on the lower left tooled on the inside as well, or is it the angle I am seeing it at?

A couple of the belts are vintage tooled belts from before the 60's. The other belts are made by Chacon, Maida's, Bohlin, James Reid, Black Jack and Seidel's Saddlery.

I have been away for a while and notice the topic has been buckles. Here is a pic of a pair of full elephant boots by ML Leddy with some of my buckle sets that include Nelson Silvia, Don Ricardo, McCabe (ca 1940s before Sunset Trails), Vogt, James Reid, Comstock Heritage and Holland's.

The buckle below went for over $1,000, really not a bad price. It probably cost 2-3 times that much new.
