Thing to Talk About #1~ I totally agree with you Morgan, where is this world going with all this violence?? and its not just video games either, there's tons of TV shows that are based on blood, gore and/or violence. I do not get why the government even allows violent games to be produced, it might even be costing them money I think. They have to take care of all the stupid people who think that what they do on a screen they can do in real life. If violent games were never really a part of this world, no one would miss them or really want them for that matter. I know that M rated games are "more fun" and "real" but cheezy E rated games can be fun in a way too, the graphics are usually kinda bad, the characters are dumb and there are many other things you laugh about too. I know that many of you serious, violent gamers out there probably won't agree with me, but I will stand my ground. Thing to Talk About #2~ I think that the violence that a child or teen sees on TV or interacts with on a screen greatly depends on their maturity level. If they are able to understand what is going on then it doesn't necessarily make it totally ok for them to play the games but at least they understand what's going on. Think to Talk About #3~ I know that this is nothing new but I find it "uncool" in a way that children and teens are becoming more and more..."pluged in" I admit, I'm guilty too, but read some article on the subject its very worthwhile. I think that well i think you know what i think and if you dont, well i'll be back! (sorry if i sound kinda weird, but i was arguing with Elyse even though its totally pointless and not im in the "fight back and don't give" in mood.)

Responding to Morgan's last message, I think that violent games are popular with a lot of people because they allow you to do things you would not be able to do in real life. We cannot go around killing people with fancy guns or steal a car and start runnin' over people so we do it in the fake world of videogames. So far thats all I have to say about that, that I do.

Some reasons why the violance can be good (not allways)... Funny: Conker's Bad Fur Day has violance that is there to be funny. Kind of like South Park or Itchy and Scratchy. An example was when Conker arives at a war he noticed how horrible it really is. One squirrl has no arm and picks up the one off the ground and places it back in some how making it seem funny.
Realisum: Maybe it makes the game seem more real. Like Halo, Perfect Dark, etc. Jjust picture Jonna DARK (main character in Perfect Dark) trying to talk it out withthe gards trying to attack her and you would see what I mean.
Makes it very scary: Resident Evil can be scary because of the zombies. I think the game wouldn't be scary at all if the zombies walked out and tryed to scare you disney style.
Also you don't all ways kill innocent people.

Replying to Morgan's messege, I think it is the way peopl think because I like some violence but not too much, and I also know people that wont play a game that dosnt have killing in it.

Drew what makes violence fun? I really want to know. I dont get why anyone one would say the more gore the better? Maybe its because im a girl or maybe I just dont think the way you do. But tell me why you think that violence makes a game better.

I realize matt, that girls play these games but a very small percent.. and about the jugding all the games on just one... well I dont care if one game has that hard of violence or five thousand, I dont think it is right to be teaching kids its ok to shoot and kill the police and innocent poeple. And what is wrong with games that dont have violence. I want to know what makes these games fun, maybe if i understand that more I will understand why you all feel so passionatly for them. It is just hard to imagine any game with killing to that extreme or any extreme to be fun. I dont understand... enlighten me.

Drew, some unviolant games are good to. Allmost every racing game is unviolant,I also like the Banjo-Kazooie games (another game by rareware) and they arn't violant. (I think I like Rareware games to much XD). Only some games are better rated M. Conker just seems better if your playing as a Squirrl that drinks, uses weapons, and all that other junk, it just adds alot of humor to the game. I also agree with Matt some girls do play video games. My sister plays Conker, Mario, Halo, Perfect Dark and many other games all the time.

Tim is right about violance making games better. I only buy games if thay have violance in them. The more gore the better and not once have i ever thought to do anything ive done in a game in real life. Also voilance dousnt have to mean killing people in Resident Evil you kill zombies and cerberus, chimeras, hunters and other creatures

Some times violance makes a game better in my opinon. For example Conker's Bad Fur Day for the N64 wasn't going to be rated M before it was released. It like it chould be good but it looked kind of kiddyish. Very kiddyish....people complained so they changed the game. It went from an E rating all teh way up to M (lol). In my opinion it is alot better with the change. With out the violance, etc. they wouln't have all the great stuff it has. Like the awsome Matrix spoof at the end.

I think that we should get rid of violent games all together. People enjoy killing people, robbing and doing all sorts of things that are against the law and are immoral. One of these days people will get bored with the games and do this in real life. We are just promoting the degregation of our future generations

Morgan ypu are talking about one video game like it represents all of them. I have only played one game that was remotely like the one you described. Unless you have seen a wide variety of games and not just one you shouldn't be insulting all of them.

All off you who agree with that new law are lunitics. Not only will the law not make any difference. Besides I already have a mother I don't need the government trying to be one too. If someone wantsa to buy a video game they can get it. Their parents or older friends can buy them. Anyway playing a violent video game has no negitive effects all it. I have heard people say thing like the columbine shootings were caused by violent video games and that the D.C. are snipers practiced on Halo. Bull S--t. If you know any thing about the columbine shootings you would knew that that is bologna. Also I own Halo and it is nothing like shooting a real gun, if I had never shot a gun before but had played Halo I would still have no experience, I wouldn't even know there was a safety and there is a bit of a difference between a button and a trigger.

It makes me sick to think that young men can have fun plauing a game in which they shoot up cops, prostetues, and inoccent poeple. What kind of world do we live in where that is considered fun? It makes me sad to think that we not only let children play those games but even make them at all? What ever happened to mario racing? When did it become "macho" to shoot poeple for no good reason and act like an idiot?
