Those tips don't strike me as 'Digital Photo' tips, more like just simple, solid general photo tips. Good tips, however.
I really wish there were some really good 'digital photo' tips out there because my friends take a lot of lousy pictures. They rely on the camera internals way too much. Cameras are like excitable dogs, chasing every source of light trying to find the most promising, cameras should be kept tight leash.

I use 4, 6, and 7 a lot.
Other techniques I've found that help are: (instead of 8) any sturdy thing to lean the camera on; very rare use of flash, since it over-emphasizes foreground, instead I adjust the "ISO" setting and fix the dark images in software. One fun use of flash is to place a small object on a white background, force flash, use macro mode and very close camera. The object gets very intense colors and the backgound turns into pure white. I did a series on exotic fruit this way when I went to Singapore. (Those images are not online, however.)
