Does any here have WAEPA? Any comparisons to private insurance carriers?

I retired in May 2007, FERS, 30 years with military time, I'm 58 years old.
I received the social security supplement. I applied for social security disability and was awared 100% disability back to Nov. 2007. How will this affect my SS supplement, will I owe OPM form Nov. 2007 till now?

Re /m944

You may have to repay OPM for the ss disability, but am uncertain if the supplement is a factor. Look for the retirement section at the opm website.

Re /m945

The deductions will come out of the annuity. You may also incur withholding depending on how you filled out your w-4.

Is there ever going to be another early out?

/m951 Kerry, They are few and far between and always costly for the USPS. I saw 2 in my 40 years, around 73 and 92. If you are hoping for one, you had better be prepared for the reality of retirement or have a 2nd career lined up. I think the USPS knows it can accomplish the same thing through natural attrition.

/m953 Kerry, you are at the point of your life when you cannot allow emotions to overrule common sense. Your only hope is you and your mind, there is nothing they can throw at you that you can't handle unless you decide you can't handle it. I transferred after 30 years and became a PTF at the bottom of the senority list. I could have whined and cried, but instead I dug in my heals made regular again and carved out my own little niche. I retired 9 years later and started a 2nd career with the state. As long as you dwell on how difficult the next 5 years will be, then your prophecies will come true. Here is a great little quote from Hanah More that may take more than one reading to understand,
"Imagination frames events unknown, in wild, fantastic shapes of hideous ruin, and what it fears, creates."

D&C /m954 "Imagination frames events unknown, in wild, fantastic shapes of hideous ruin, and what it fears, creates."Hanah More" Very well said.

Most everyone of us who have started a new job had trepidations as to it's challenges. The imagination runs wild when faced with the unknown. Kerry, as D&C indicated, take everyday one at a time. If a VERA comes up, so much the better. You've made it this far, even with change, there is no reason to believe you will not finish the course. Good Luck
