Its a shame that no one appreciates that the US is putting an end to the barbaric acts carried out by the oppresive Iraqi government for 30 years. Now their government is paying very dearly for their deeds, its about time.

Defence Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld now sound more like, the Iraq spoke for information saying "the USA forces are not in Bagdad" He believes that the looting and general disorder is not happening. Its funny when things thse type of leaders will call it as they see it we all must be blind.

Sorry for my last puposition, but you couldn't have any links because GOOGLE do not like boolean question. So please try again with this asks : 1/ Prescott BUSH nazi hitler financing <-> Prescott BUSH was the grand father of the President GWB 2/ "George W. BUSH" YALE "Skull-and-Bones" "my senior age" <-> if you do that you will have a french link (see at down the page) becaus annother man has talking about the same thing I tell you now... http://www.infocrise.org/breve.php3?id_breve=473/ George W. BUSH YALE Skull and Bones my senior age <-> these key word put in the GOOGLE are the main entrance int this interesting and particular knowledge about the World's Master, GWB. Sincerely.

Please, if you want to know very well the deep intention of the President George W. BUSH ask in GOOGLE or another one with these key word : +"George W. BUSH"+YALE+"Skull-and-Bones"+"my senior age"
After studying all the links you should find with these key word and boolean question (try different form), you will know the deep reality of this war and all of the others BUSH want to to do behind this one.
Above of these consideration, see the President of the United States of America is not the christian he tells, but he is belonging to another religion, a frightning religion.
And also ask for : +"Prescott BUSH"+"NAZI" OR "HITLER"+financ*
And you shall see that the grand father of the President was financing the holocaust, because he was financing Germany in these trouble and tragic hours (1933-1945).
But who is knowing that !?? :'-(

SENT A COMPLAINT TO CNN - I would expect CNN to close down Kevin as it is a Democratic Ted Turner Toy. I am so sad for Kevin! But at least the site was not closed down due to Kevin's death. For that I am thankful that our prayers were heard. Viewed the site regarded below http://www.meki4ever.tk/. It is in German, so I can't read it until I load some language translator :O( At any rate, if it is just more about bombing - CNN is big into reporting bombing and military strategy. I miss the stories about the Parakeets. I hope they got to go with Kevin as I have just heard all journalists are being evaced from North Iraq. I must say to all that I have truly enjoyed all your postings. I hope we meet again in another blog somewhere to share as the humans we all are. Mine of choice now is http://dear_raed.blogspot.com/ thanks to a fellow blogger for this one - hope to find another American Journalist blogging - Maybe from MSNBC? Hats off to Freedom of Speech.

Today was the first time I had visited the site. I was looking for pertinant information about the Harry S. Truman (which my 20 year old daughter is serving on), and that is what led me to Kevin's site. I found it very interesting, and I too wonder what drives a man to be in Iraq in the conditions that he has to indure just to get a story. I will visit back to see if there are any updates. Very interesting! And to Kevin...be careful. (kutedymples@highland.net)

Great pictures and an interesting site. Most people have no idea of the length of time the actual weapons testing, (live) took place in northern Iraq. Many people were killed with chemical weapons prior to 1985. Many of the individuals who currently are protesting the start of military action in Iraq would think differently if the weapons were being used in their neighborhoods. Ask the Kurds how they feel about the removal of Saddam Hussein and his weapons of mass destruction.

How do the EUGENES of the world like these -possible-apples! "So now the war has begun. Will it make us safer? More secure? Once Saddam Hussein goes and the internal order of Iraq breaks down, there is a significant danger that some in the weapons complex will simply privatize technology or systems under their control, warned a recent report by the Council on Foreign Relations coauthored by former secretary of State James Baker. These experts in high-tech slaughter will be accountable to no one, and looking to fatten their bank accounts. Of course American forces will be hunting frantically for such men and women. But in the fog of war and the aftermath of shock and awe, soldiers may have even more trouble than the United Nations inspectors did tracking them down. As those who escape, put their expertise and their wares on the market,.... " http://www.msnbc.com/news/888276_asp.htm?0cv=CB30

Kevin, Be safe. This war was an inevitability, but that doesn't mean it has to be a travesty. The best photos reflect what is around us, and you seem to have that certain *something* that lets you be our artistic eye. I thank you and all other photojournalists for being there and keeping it fair by keeping us informed.
In due time, everyone will see that nobody wants another war. It won't be the words of those who wrote about it that will pull at the heartstrings of the multitudes fifty years later; it will be the pictures.

TVC15 - you know nothing of what you speak. Your bias and racism is clear in your portrayal of Americans and even in the term "sand niggers" - open your mouth and stick your foot in it again. Psychology tells us that a man's portrayal of others is really transferrence of his own self-image, and it seems to truly hit home with your statement.

You have to forgive the ignorance of most Americans because if you watch CNN and listen to Rush Limbaugh you'll understand why so many of us are so incredibly stupid. In the city schools (New York and probably every other city) students have history books with Nixon as the president.
So few Americans actually leave their trailer park homes to go anywhere (except the local Wal-Mart or Winn Dixie). I love this country and I've traveled extensively inside and out. Not just by air, but by train and car and I can tell you that it is not what you see on television. A lot of Americans live in trailers and prefab housing we call single and double-wide. Their newspapers are written for anyone with a fourth grade education except a few like the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal which require a ninth grade education.
Americans are stupid, lazy, can barely speak their own language (listen to any Country Western or Hip Hop radio station all owned by Clear Channel) and although they want democracy and freedom are quick to wrap themselves in the flag and then tape their mouths with duct tape (and anyone else's) because we all have to think the same way and agree with an insane president with on an inane Christian Crusade.
I would be so happy if one day Americans stopped burping and farting in front of their TVs and turned them off and then turned to each other. If they could stop buying into the notion that because we have more bombs, guns, alarm systems, duct tape and plastic that we are somehow safe and superior. That being white, black, brown, yellow, muslim, christian, jew doesn't really matter because we're all going to end up dead one day which is the great equalizer. That killing hundreds of thousands of innocents to get to one man (I'm no friend of Saddams) is not only morally reprehensible but it is dead wrong. Anyone who advocates killing anyone without trial is a goddamn Nazi.
Unfortunately too many Americans want things easy and as long as their sons and daughters aren't going to die (only innocent civilians die by the truckload in war) they don't care. And besides, those sand niggers aren't like us anyway. They don't believe in our god, they don't speak our language, hell, they don't even live in a trailer park. We, with our white skin and double wides rule and we know what's good for the rest of the world. And while bush promises to give the post war Iraqi's (those who are left) new schools, hospitals, free healthcare and new school books, more and more Americans are homeless, stuffed in bathrooms converted into schoolrooms, 60 students to a class SHARING outdated textbooks, and god forbid a parent gets sick or hurt (don't get hurt on the job, Workers Compensation is a joke) and you will find yourself destitute. The corporations wanted this war, and they have it. And it will be the American people who will be stuck paying the price.

That is very true. I spent most of my life in New York, and never, ever had a clue about what was going on in England, let alone Turkey or the rest of the Middle East. That is why it is so easy to magnify some events, distort lifestyles and beliefs. It is not the average American's fault if he thinks that men in Turkey have 4 wives and "ride camels to school" (I was asked that question several times growing up!). Unfortunately, interest only flares in times like this. If only people could be interested during times of peace. Then perhaps more would actually travel to these parts of the world and see what it is really like.

So sad as the carnage begins. Kevin the work you are doing restores my hope for in the journalism profession. Eugene, I was in the USA recently and I wouldn't want to live there. Bars on the windows of houses, buses that don't give change because they have been robbed so often and a general climate of fear. I am glad to be back in a country where people trust oneanother and everyone feels safe in the streets. If you have not been out of the USA maybe you don't realise how bad it has got there compared with the other western nations.

i'm thankful for these images of everyday iraqi people... even though they are painful to view, knowing that the horror of war is about to overtake their country. many people posting here go on about hussein's attrocities and human rights violations against his own people... how is war supposed to help? we weren't interested in helping the iraqi people when we waged war against hussein the first time... why does everyone think we will help them now? it's all about the benjamins people... don't be fooled. we're not rushing into africa to help the people there who are being slaughtered by their own governments. why? cause africa doesn't have anything we want or need. if hussein is a true threat, then this war will be long and bloody and we will sustain mass casualities. but we all know it will be over quickly and probably with little loss of U.S. life. why? because hussein isn't a true threat. okay, i'll stop now. but please everyone, look at that photo of that beautiful child and take just a moment to pray for a peaceful way outta this mess...

halabadja was an attempt to reduce the kurds moral and it was officially said to be one of the kurds stronghold. By killing 5000 halabadjans one hoped to break the moral of the kurds. Did that happen ? no. Is this war going to break the moral of terrorists ? no. The cause might be good but the shot is missfired. People who have nothing to lose will turn on you.

Reading Sandra's link, do you believe the US to be actively censoring western journalists and, even more frighteningly, attempting to 'take out' independent jouranlists' communications equipment?
I get really uneasy when categoric statements along the lines of 'deserves to be eliminated' and 'we are not the evil ones' are used to describe such complex events as these. Who is safe in a world where one nation asserts itself as judge, jury and executioner.

If Turks still wants to join EU then I donīt think itīs so smart to knock on the door with blod on their hands, even if EU have Blair! Blair can be thrown away but itīs harder with states.

"The Turks invasion of Iraqi Kurdistan will happen in any case and in somehow since they are already there"
The Turks get paranoia to just even hear the name "Kurd". (Itīs probably the most taboo word in the Turkish language) They donīt call the Kurds in Turky or Iraq for Kurds, or name of the area for Kurdistan (they opposed and heavely critsized when an Iranian airline wanted to call one of their planes Kurdistan), instead they refer to them as Iraqis and the area as northern Iraq. I donīt undrestand that such a paranoia ---- I mean Iraqi Kurdistan have borders with Iran and Syria, these countries havnīt threathend to do such a thing. (In fact more Kurdish refugees entered Iran then into Turkey during the Gulf ware) --- Why is it only Turky that wants to invade Iraqi Kurdistan? Turky wants more influnce for the Iraqi Turkemans in the upcoming new postgovermnet after the war (Today Turkemans have the same rights and freedom as other "Iraqi kurdistani" (shia Kurds (feyli), Kelldani/Ashuri and Yezidi) to study in their own language, they have their own TV channel, and their own political parties, while the kurdish minority in Turkey arenīt even allowed to study in their own tongue --- For God sake they were not even allowed to speak kurdish for just some years ago...Talk about dubbel standard and once again paranoia, ... I mean itīs so ludicrous when your hear the Turkish argumest; they want to advocate democracy and equality for Tukemes while they are really treating their own minority virtullay like SHIT,,, The Turkish republic have destroied the Kurds selfesteem by forbidding their language for some generation. Itīs the worst thing a human being can be opposed to.
Why do you think the kurds say: we want rather to be under Saddams govern then the Turks... "Please" just consider over this a bit. Why dose the Kurds disapprove the Turks so much..? How can Turkey have nervs to talk about democracy and human right concering their own human rights violation record?!

This may be a young human being, but not a child anymore. Those are not children's eyes!!! Small wonder when children grow up with hate and terror and being given weaponry to play with, rather than a barbie-doll or a construction kit.

I think that this is the way war-reporting should be; straight from the place where it happens! Great job! Good luck and keep safe !!!!

Thanks very much for this site and for these pictures. FYI, on this and the other pictures in this series, the full-size images don't come up. This appears to be because the links point to the file with "jpg" in lower case, while the files have "JPG" in upper case. Until that's fixed, readers can just make that change in the URL field in their browswers, e.g. http://www.kevinsites.net/images/DSC00046.JPG for this one.
