 I am not aware of any Mac software that would specifically single out species for the Eastern U.S. Your best bet would be to do a search through a site like macupdate.com or versiontracker.com and see if they have anything like that. I would definitely suggest getting copies of David Sibley's bird ID guide for the Eastern U.S. and a copy of the National Geographic guide to birds for North America. That should help you a lot!
