I was wondering where I can find a free version of Limewire PRO. I used to go to nsaneproductions.com, and it is no longer able to be downloaded, I don't know why, but whatever. Thanks for the help.

I use p2p all the time, download tracks, and listen to them once. The thing is, if p2p were widespread, I honestly thing that downloading would hurt sales. Granted, reducing inflated cd prices would fix that problem in a hurry, but I think it's silly to tout the downloading=increased sales doctrine unequivocally.

If cds cost $6.00, I'd probably buy 2-3 a month. Right now it hurts too much psychologically to spend $17 for a cd with maybe 60% good songs. And I make about $40k a year.

Hopefully this will have some real effect on P2P software. Kazaa is terribly under-featured with no direct user to user download or file signing/validation. There's that .dat file plug-in for movies, but that's pretty half-assed.

Its time to put the peer back into P2P. If I can't say, "I want to download from Joe" or if I can't filter out the bogus files then something is wrong with the software. This exploit shouldn't even be possible on decent P2P software.

i think this is such a great idea, and don't get me wrong, i despise the dcma, the riaa, and all the other a's out there that thing they have a license to print money by keeping us in yesterday's technology.

think about it, human networks are based on many things, including trust. it could be argued that trust is one of the more important aspects. if you download lincoln park and get a big ad, well, that's what trust is about. what a great way to equalize the issue of theft, trust, commerce, and art on the internet!

When are these music exec bozos going to figure out that spamming p2p networks with junk files is futile in the end? The very nature of p2p networking is a built-in-repution system where the valuable files stay on the network, and on peoples hard drives, and the bogus files get deleted. Its an up-hill battlet at best.

Better still, the next-gen of p2p networks are improving and enhancing the role of reputation in the new architecture. Sigh..

so true... The "artists" are either too naive to see the value that mp3 swapping can have to building a fan base, or are contractualy obligated to screw their fans in such a manner. Major label 'bands' make bupkis on CD sales- it is all in the touring and merch. Let kids devour mp3s of your songs all they want- you will get their money at the shows. Or pass on the major label indentured servitude and go with the ever growing indie label scene. Dischord, Alternative Tentacles, Vagrant etc. are doing just fine in the post-Napster world. Why? The actually give a shit about the MUSIC first. These labels also have built up a label fan base! Would you buy a record just because it is Warner Brothers? I don't think so... Many a great CD I have bought just because they were a 'Dischord band'. The label becomes a mark of quality, not a top-heavy brand trying to sell you some 'product'.

If your musical tastes land you sqaurely in Major Label territory... well, sorry- eat that much sugar and fat- there will be consequences.

Paraphrasing Guy from Fugazi "Not being on a major label may make it harder for fans to find us- but good things are worth looking for"

This is old news. The Barenaked Ladies did it years ago on Napster, when they were promoting "Maroon."

if you are a fan of Linkin Park, isn't it to be argued that you deserve a bogus file that the band themselves made?
