Couldn't they have protested by working in soup kitchens, VA Hosipitals or something more productive?

I guess after seeing how well civil disobedience worked in Vietnam they decided to duplicate the effort here.

Then again, 90% likely just wanted time off work to go out and cause trouble. Stopping the war by blocking traffic? If I was undecided about the war, these protests sure would have helped me make up my mind...but not in the direction the protesters wanted.

Protest is great, it's as American as apple pie and all, I just wish these folks would figure out what WORKS and do that, so at least they would be constructive!

It's tough for the vocal MINORITY to be heard, so I guess they think civil disobedience breeds sympathy for their cause, but they are incorrect. Then again, I doubt they care since it's all about self importance anyway.

Standing in the street takes 0 effort. Working hard to change the system isn't easy, and if they aren't willing to put forth the effort then I guess standing in the street is all that's left.

Anyway, thanks protestors for solidifying my opinions.

Seems like the riot police all come from the same gene pool. Here is a link to a "brave" policeman in Madrid ensuring the public safety in the aftermath of one of the numerous protests in Madrid Saturday night by smacking a defenseless woman in the head with his baton.

The good news is that the Madrileños keep protesting: over 1 million, AGAIN and another 750.000 in Barcelona.
