Pornsawan,
The best method for splicing solid thermoplastic belt is a press splice using a finger joint, overlap, or modified butt joint. This will give you the best cosmetic look, as well as most accurate flow.
The next best would be the butt splice (Andro-Splice) This is the faster method but only joins the belt ends. This is standard for field installs.
The third method is the welding rod and hot air blower. This is the first method used and still finds popularity with old timers and people who have occasional fabrications. The cost on this system is the most resonable.

Just want to know if Jerry Ulness found a home.
Belting people are not in demand anymore, but there are a few good companies out there that can use one or two.
One of the things that strikes me about the "new way" of conducting belt sales, is how difficult it is (sometimes)to contact a real live and knowledgeable belt person over the phone. Quick response is, in my humble experience, one of the indicators of suppliers who really want to take care of customers - they have not forgotten that in the end, people buy from people, and relationships in this industry are long lasting. So Jerry, I hope you've found a good place to share your knowledge.

Subject: belt bonder joining system.

We had read your bonding instructions mention that there are 3 method of welding which are finger splice overlap splice and andro-splice. We wonder that bonder joining system can weld all 3 method. And what the best for all 3 method.

Looking forward to hear from you soon.

I surelly do not need to know all the names of the belts to be the best there is in fabrication. To take somthing every day, (that not very many people would even think makes the world go round)and build a long piece of material and make millions of dollars a year for people is the most brilliant job market to be in.If we did not have a conveyor and belt to go onto the nachine what would the world be like? And Im looking in the light wieght area because Im pretty small!

offer them a car,a starting wage, and a company credit card, and you will have a salesman? The way its been over the past 10 years with consolidations, buyouts, mergers, and cutbacks. Are the customers who make our paychecks being shortchanged? I have the answer, if you know belting and applications for its proper use, are customers are being short changed....... Hey look a the stockmarket, the CEO's of our great country seem to be going to court every other week or so. FOR SHORTCHANGING THERE CUSTOMERS!!!!!!! LETS PUT EXPERENCED BELT PEOPLE BACK TO THERE JOBS! Our customers deserve the best..... JERRY ULNESS ( IM BACK AN HERE TO STAY) PS. IM LOOKING FOR A COMPANY TO SALE FOR THAT REALLY WANT THEIR CUSTOMERS TAKEN CARE OF, I KNOW BELT!!!!!

So far so good, Ted. I'm not quite sure on distributors doing this fabrication unless they are the big one s( B'Service, Apache, Sparky, etc.)
By the way Don, if you read this, we are looking for an extruded v-guide notching machine. The only one's I've seen come from Spain, Italy, etc. Do you know where we could get one ?

Its good to hear from you both! I hope the new job is going well Beltman2000!
I agree with you, the capped edge belt is here to stay! The reinforced Volta Style solid belts, still need to have the sealed sides to keep moisture from wicking into the carcass. I think the new government reg's on clean ability will cause an up swing in interest. It may be that only the larger budget companies can afford such machinery, but the demand will continue to rise for these belts. Distributors need to shop around for the best price and turn around if they sell markets that demand this type of product. I think the demand for a good reliable, field installable, positive drive for these belts is the next big market we need to address....what do you think?
Beltman2000  3
01-28-2003 11:32 PM ET (US)
With Ammeraal, Habasit, Siegling, your major distributor-fabricators and others still pushing these edge sealed belts, and the extruded belt products still growing in the food markets, I would venture to say sealed edge belts will be around for a while. Side sealing machines may be hard to cost justify, since most major manufacturers and the major master fabricators can do this as an added service to distributors. Don, the market size is basically wherever cleanability and contamination are an issue, so most USDA and AAA type plants are fair game - and there are a lot !
Don Strazisar  2
01-17-2003 08:28 AM ET (US)
Is the need for Side Sealing of a conveyor belt still a hot topic? Has the need been replaced by extruded belt products? What's the size of this market? What are the target areas for this product? What would be an acceptable price for such a Side Sealing Unit?
