The same thing was bugging me just the other day...

It happens to me if i'm in a very quiet place, like inside a parked car... if it's totally silent, i hear a steady NREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE....

And it bugs me. I thought, "Egad! Have i messed up my mind with DRUGS?"

But then i remembered that i heard this before all of that.

I think that it's some sort of White Noise of the Universe -- radio waves and electromagnetic pulses and neutrino flows and the like.

Because... when you think about it, the Universe is a big, complicated, nasty-ass piece of machinery. Surely it makes some type of noise.

Either that, or we're both just stark raving nutbrained weirdomeisters.

That's tinnitus, usually caused by a disturbance of the auditory nerve or impacted ear wax. I've had it, on and off, since the auto accident that almost killed me in '93.

Drives me fucking nuts, especially when I think I hear the phone ringing while I am actually using the phone.

I thought it was the aliens telling me who to kill next. Are you telling me it's something else and all of those people are dead for nothing?
