Sequence Fix  1214

Hello again,

No luck with the "Small and Disadvantaged Business" contact.

I found out tonight that the USPS has no current offerings for non career employee incentives or otherwise. We'll see if there are any other alternatives.

If anyone has any other ideas, please feel free ;)

Any chance anyone knows the estimated cost oos errors cost the USPS?

Thank You both for the response.

Currently, I am a non career employee. That would be part of the reason I'm not willing to simply give the info. away.

I don't use the MTSC website or any such career tools.

If anyone has any direct links to more information, it would be greatly appreciated...

I checked the innovations site and it states:

The Strategic Business Initiatives' Innovations@USPSŪ site does not provide for recognition or incentives.

So, USPS HQ "Small and Disadvantaged Business" I'll try that...

/m1210 you said "I had a 40K piece run the other night with 6 OOS errors. That's right 6 pieces. My first OOS came at 22k ;) I can post some phone pic's of the monitor/screen if necessary..."

Do you work at the post office?

then you said "How would I go about this via the Internet at a non postal facility?"

If you do not work at the post office how do you know about OOS?

If you do work at the post office then you are supposed to have access to a computer to submit e-ideas, and at that time you could look on the MTSC web site.

Sequence Fix- http://www.usps.com/innovations/welcome.htm might be a good place to start. Also, contact USPS HQ in Washington and ask for the "Small and Disadvantaged Business" person-explain what you want to do in general terms and if they cant't get you to the right person(s), they can at least get you started. It sounds like you might be onto something here.... Good Luck!
Part of my job at the company where I worked before the USPS was "government marketing coordinator" i.e. chasing down the right person who can help us out.

Thanks again...

Unfortunately, I do not have access to email or postal interfaces. How would I go about this via the Internet at a non postal facility?

/m1208 do you have email at work?

you could go to the MTSC site on the blue page at work and find a spot to contact someone.

also submit a e-idea.

Honestly...

The USPS would benefit financially if sequence errors were reduced. Every night I see DBCS runs that have as many as 1500 out of sequence problems. While that is the worst case scenario, I still see runs averaging in the 100's for oos errors. A simple yet effective fix would help the USPS financially and in return I believe a level of compensation would be justified.

I would guess an easy 10% reduction in oos errors nationwide, EASY! If done properly, who knows..

I had a 40K piece run the other night with 6 OOS errors. That's right 6 pieces. My first OOS came at 22k ;) I can post some phone pic's of the monitor/screen if necessary...

My goal has been to get a 0 oos run but I don't think that's very likely...

I usually run at .3 -.5 pieces per thousand oos- mean/average...

So, seriously. Who does one contact for such a project.

Does the USPS care about out of sequence errors on DBCS runs?
some.

If there was a fix for the problem, would anyone be interested?
depends on cost.

Financially, how would such a fix help the Postal Service with current revenue issues?
less rehandling of mail.

Does the USPS hire consultants for such issues? If a simple fix was readily availalbe?
no not currently.

what are you fishing for?

Thank You for the response.

ps- this fix does not include Phase 6 machines. That is, if a Phase 6 isn't set-up properly (spot on) then there is no cure.. The 6's are a step backward in my opinion.

Does the USPS hire consultants for such issues? If a simple fix was readily availalbe?

I took the unproctored portion of test 955 online. My NOR said "Ineligible" for all job categories even though I scored all M's and H's. I've been a MM7 for 3-4 years, but apparently I'm not even qualified to do that Now!!? Anyone I have asked in Management And HR says "I Dunno"
If I failed, How am I to know what to study to better myself on this mini psych-eval if Nobody knows anything about it?

We make less than UPS workers in equivalant assignments. We are part of a Bargaining Unit. If you would like to make a fair wage I suggest you go to a Union shop.
